I don't think we need one, personally. Just keep kicking the illegals out.
I am not a fan of the federals sticking too many fingers in local pies. There are still too many unelected beaurocrats that will go power mad.
But it wouldn't matter if we did or didn't. Some chickenshit liberal judge is going to sign an injunction. Not based on anything other than OMB. You know that.

Devil is in the details but I support the executive throwing some shite at the wall and seeing what sticks rather than just resigning themselves to it not being legally possible.

I think as we continue to export illegals the housing crunch gets better. But thats mainly apartments. His act would help single family houses. And if he can eliminate apartments smack in middle of single family areas that would help crime

No our investments are way more important than housing American citizens

Nationalizing something else? Awesome.

Because we have so much data that supports the government getting involved to make a situation better.
Jeebus, if your first instinct is more government this country is fricked.

I would become a single issue voter over something like this. We need more housing and videos like this lay it out well

Gosh. Why didn't anyone, anyone, tell us that tariffs would make things more expensive? No one could have possibly foreseen that broad tariffs on steel, lumber and building materials would make homes more expensive and disproportionately screw working class people. No one even mentioned that this was possible. Of course it's an emergency! Trump's moronic policies have caused an emergency that makes basic living more expensive for everyone.
Can you indicate on the new housing price chart below where exactly Trump’s tariff policies made homes more expensive?

How about they address the ever rising insurance and property taxes.
Trump changing the way that counties assess property taxes would be bizarre and the opposite of small federal government in the most blatant way possible.

The remarks come as Trump seeks to position "affordability" as a centerpiece of Republicans' 2026 midterm platform. The "No Tax on Tips" provision in the recently signed One Big Beautiful Bill Act is part of that push
Really curious to see if they start talking more seriously about raising the bottom of the first tax bracket to $200k.

What Trump is proposing is small potatos compared to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, so the "nationalization" argument doesn't really stand up.

Well, that is not it. It is just another symptom like the "housing crisis".

Do something about insurance rates and, property taxes.
Not everyone should "own" a home, not that anyone really does.

It looks like Trump is rolling out several different strategies to deal with a complex problem.
We will see how it pans out... but so far, it does seem like they are trying to understand the problem and come up with multiple solutions. Each on their own may not accomplish much- but taken together they might actually add up to something tangible for the American public.

even granting tariff exemptions for construction materials.
Who the hell buys building materials everyday?

The best and cheapest thing Trump could do to address the housing crisis is incentivize corporations hire more WFH employees that have geographic flexibility to work where they please. That would ease a lot of pressure on costs in these higher cost of living areas.
