If Russia nukes people and invades Poland that wouldnt be an end of the world situation. Russia cant even beat Zelensky. Now they are invading Poland

Russia can't afford to invade more countries when they are struggling with Ukraine for 4.5 years that didn't have much of a military.

This isn't cold war Russia.

Let me see if I got this straight... you think with a madman (according to some people) sitting in the oval office, Putin will be dumb enough to use a nuke?

But what does he have to lose? Guy can’t lose power hence having Medvedev in when Putin wanted to take a break as prime minister. He’s old now with not much longer and unopposed since if he wasn’t overthrown by now he’ll never be. So why not go out with a risky equivalent of The Schlieffen Plan but tactical nukes instead of tanks?

They absolutely are in a corner.

More accurately, Putin is in a corner

To do so would be suicide.

The rest of the world would quickly form up against them (save Iran and a N Korea) and they would be cut off economically.

Their people would starve the next winter.

No because they’re already sanctioned to the max (even their banking system) and China, India, and secretly the EU needs their oil and natural gas.

Yeah these folks are missing the point, maybe I make a diagram or list of bullet points tomorrow?

So obvious where the ends up. Follow the incentives and cause/effect, especially when you don’t care much about the effects anymore after isolation and sanctions. A swift move could undo this though…

Presumably you mean with nuclear weapons? In that case, sure, they could, but they would be ending their own regime as well.

There is no way Putin and his cronies could remain in charge of Russia if they did that. There is unanimous agreement among first world countries that nukes are off the table. They would all boycott Russia which would collapse their economy.

Faced with a North Korean future they would execute a coup against Putin.
