Barnor Hesse is the author of 8 Whiteness Identifiers List which was recently sent home by a New York City school. No doubt this will not be the only school which will do so as public school systems become more and more emboldened under the Biden administration.

I think all his publications should be black ink on black paper to avoid using white space.

Guess you can add this as a 9th identifier of whiteness but I find it amazing that a major university would have 13 professors of African American studies, plus a graduate staff and adjunct faculty.

If the underlying assumption of diversity is that talent is evenly distributed amongst the population, and that the goal of diversity is that industries should have the same demographic breakdown as the local population, then as an outside observer I must conclude that this is not "an amazing show of diversity."
But then again, I'm a professor of chemical engineering so my opinions mean nothing as they are considered too cold and unfeeling.

1. Boston has a long and documented history of racism toward so-called people of color, despite a relatively small proportion of so-called people of color in the population. To me, this makes it at once ironic and humorous that any of their universities has such a full-blown department devoted to African American studies, much less that the department populates itself with staff from other countries.

I walked through the local Barnes and noble the other night and the amount of this type of BS they had up front and center was ridiculous.

I'm not privy to the merchandising decisions at B&N, but I wonder if that space is sold to publishers at a rate that would make it profitable.
The customers at my local B&N appear to be decidedly liberal but the only places I see them shopping are:
Fiction
Fantasy
Comics
Mystery
The Kids section has a bunch of space dedicated to topical political bullshite too - RBG stuff, pussy hat protest books, and "How to Raise an Anti-Racist Child".
My district voted Trump like 70/30 in 2016 and 2020, so there's just no fricking way there is enough of an appetite for these books to keep the lights on. That's what makes me think it's a corporate deal with publishers.
