shrug.
You discriminate you don't get to do business in this country.
It is as simple as that.
Again...be a racist frick all you want...but when the government is backing it...that's where I have the problem.

As I have said before...I have little problem with bigots..they can be dumb arse all they want.
My problem is the government is getting involved and trying to make it okay for them to be bigots in their place of business.
We have housing discrimination laws for a reason.
We had a civil rights act for a reason.
You do get that citing current laws as justification for a position to a libertarian, is the same as quoting the bible as evidence to an atheist?

Again...be a racist frick all you want...but when the government is backing it...that's where I have the problem.
But then we have the obvious contradiction:
quote:
You discriminate you don't get to do business in this country.
It is as simple as that.
Do gay couples who boycott Chic-Fil-A or Hobby Lobby have a 'right to discriminate'?
Do investors who only invest in "green" companies have a 'right to discriminate'?
Do business owners who ban smokers have a 'right to discriminate'? how about those who ban legal gun carriers?
Do a parents who want to put their child in a private or magnet school instead of the neighborhood public school have a 'right to discriminate'?
Does government have the right to tell private citizens what is and is not acceptable discrimination (or in general acceptable behavior)?

In other words, you have a problem with government protecting the Constitutional right to free association.
This being the case, I'm guessing very few people give a flying frick WHAT you have a problem with.

I think he has a bigger problem with the government protecting religious freedoms.

Way to ignore everything I posted.
You're a drama queen.
This is not state funded and sanctioned discrimination like Jim crow. It's a freedom bill for private citizens respecting the rights of private property and do whatever you want to do with it as long it does not receive public funds of any sort.
Also, your hatred of religion is showing here. I hate bible thumpers as much you do but I will protect their freedom to practice their religious principles when it does not infringe on others. Refusal of service is not infringement.

This is an attempt to return to the glory days of the 50s where we eagerly and happily segregated our society based on a bunch of shite that "shouldn't" matter anymore....only this time we are hiding behind the guise of "religious freedom".

You couldn't be any more clear on how you hate freedom and rights you disagree with, with this sentence.

Then why do you want the gov't to stop private citizens from being a racist frick?

They're not. This bill does no such thing.

I wish it was reality.
Me too. With my test scores and GPA, I would get a hefty minority scholarship to many law schools and/or business schools if I wasn't white. I'd also probably get into a top 5 school if I was minority with my scores.

this thread makes me sad for America. The fact that a state would allow buisineses to discriminate is a shame. what's even more shamefull is the amount of people defending the state's right because its there right to discriminate. so lets just appeal civil rights then.

Perfect.
Just because politicians say its law does not mean it should be law and/or its morally justifiable.

Private citizens and their property don't belong to you. It's not your labor, your money, your capital and your products to decide what should be done with it.
Why are you in favor of legislating and pushing morality? Just because you agree with it?

This doesn't make sense.

To be fair, that's not a great point. Tons of laws we all agree on are legislating morality.
