They’re expensive, essentially disposable, and I personally don’t want to have another thing in my life I need to worry about plugging in to charge.
It’s a definite no for me. Idc how fast it’ll do 0-60.

Any person who has played with a remote control car knows this.
A whole day of charging to play with it for 20 minutes!
Bet your remote control car didn't spontaneously combust, now did it?

They more I see comments from GM and Ford, the more impressed I am with what Elon Musk has been able to do.
Elon is the Epstein of electric cars

1000s of them have. Model airplanes as well.

Instead of letting EVs grow organically, they tried to force them on people and create demand that wasn't there.

The same scenario played out with the vaccines. Instead of allowing people to make a personal choice on whether to take it or not, they tried to mandate a product many people simply didn’t want. Authoritarians will always act like authoritarians

It’s similar to solar panels. The government has tried to push them for years with tax breaks and subsidies, but because of many factors, citizens don’t want them.

There will come a time, eventually, where EVs are the norm and ICE cars are a niche at best.
Someday.
But that day is not now, or within the next 10 years or maybe even 20 years.
People don't trust them yet. The range is not there and they just aren't practical yet.
They don't charge as conveniently as filling up a gas tank, and there aren't enough chargers.
When you can take an 8 hour road trip without having to charge, then you will see a tipping point.

It never will work if the law of supply and demand doesn’t back it up. Practical technological advancements have to take place organically. If they have to be pushed on society by a government it’s destined to fail.

How about just have an EV as a versatile vehicle. You can take it to work during the week or on some dirt roads over the weekend.

Ford/SK has paused construction of one of the two battery plants in Kentucky because of low ev sales.

Let the Teslas of the world focus on EVs and growing that space organically, it didn’t need to be forced
Telsa always had it right and then the Gov always had it wrong.
Tesla was never forced on anyone. They captured a decent amount of greens with money. Key thing is it happened naturally like our free enterprise system is designed.
But when Gov got involved and pushed car companies via mandates - the market those companies need is so different than Tesla. They are less affluent and live in places where its hard or impossible to have chargers.
Apartments are a hard sell unless you wantcto spend an hour every night driving around finding a safe place to recharge thats not full. Same for condos. The mass market is not functionally able to easily switch to electric cars.
Then the ones in houses - again if you wanted electric car you would have gotten Tesla but if they haven’t bought electric by now they don’t want one.
So where is this market at? Thats the problem, there is no market. If you gave me an electric car for free I would have to still spend thousands to install a home charger. And would never take it out of town. If you gave me a free gas car its ready to go and anywhere in country easily.
Before long the Gov will have to do a reverse “cash for clunkers” and start paying you to take one. Its a complete Gov created problem. Meanwhile, Tesla built their customer base the right way and will be fine.

They knew it from the beginning. They just took advantage of the federal money and tax cuts for the “EV investments”

Ford loses thousands on every EV truck they sell. Our local Nissan plant makes(made)the Titan. No more. They are retooling to make an EV truck. Hope they are paying attention.

Question for EV owners: how do EVs perform in Louisiana heat when the a/c is a necessity all-day and all-night? Does it drain the battery faster?
