So in order for the n word defense to be used, the former future Supreme Court justice must take the stand, right?

I hope this case makes it clear you cannot assault or kill somebody for the words they say. Too many people in this country believe this.

I fully expect him to be convicted given the information we have, and for cities very soft on crime to experience the consequences of being soft when there’s a handy excuse to rape and pillage.

I don't doubt it.
I also watched most of the Chauvin trial... fear is a stronger motivator than justice in many people (and I can't fault that).
