Daily Mail

quote:

Austin police have told the city's residents to not call 911 if they fall victim to a robbery near a bank or ATM, as officials struggle with a shortage of cops and a surge in crime following cries to defund the police.

quote:

'Did you get robbed on your way back from a bank or ATM? 'Call 3-1-1 or make an online report,' the graphic said, adding that citizens should mention they were coming from a bank when the robbery happened in the report and include the time and date of the cash withdrawal. 'Even if you are cautious & follow all the safety advice, you may still become the unfortunate victim of a robbery,' the Austin Police Department wrote on X alongside the graph.

Being Texas one would think you could shoot the robber.

But being Austin I bet there is nothing those libs would like better than putting a patriot in jail for life.

They love that, they did that with the Uber driver that shot someone attacking him.

But nobody getting cash from an ATM in Austin is probably armed, they're mostly from out of town.

1. "Defund the Police" was stupid.
2. This makes sense.

911 is for emergencies. Situations in which you NEED a cop, fast.

The guy who robbed you at the ATM is gone. If the cops drop everything AND get there in 30 seconds, they are still not going to catch him at the scene. Rushing to the scene of that sort of crime is unnecessary. File your report. Maybe a pattern emerges and they eventually catch the perp. Maybe not.

Countdown to "I hope YOU get robbed ...."
3 ... 2 ... 1 ...

Just more reasons to kill the perp and leave the scene

As a fellow Texan, I hope you don't get robbed. I do hope you get some damn sense knocked into you though.

Yes, we all hate robbers. It would be nice if they were all residing in Huntsville. But ...

In all seriousness, what do YOU think is accomplished by an emergency dispatch to a crime scene where there is ZERO chance of catching the perp?

2023 armed robbery is no longer an emergency

Armed robbery has a 100% rate of success. Had no idea. My bad. Guess I’ll just file my report online then.

Unsustainable ideological pussyfarts like you are why western civilization is on the brink of failure. Your dogma is dog shite.

My thought is that the perp is going to rob multiple people over the course of their little spree. A dispatch of even bike cops (lol) might be a deterrent.

But it's Austin, they made their bed, frick 'em. All those foreign students and tourists can get robbed to high heaven.

oh - I dunno - maybe collect some evidence? - like fingerprints, tire tracks, eyewitness IDs and testimony, description of perp, method of attack, type of vehicle used, description of weapon, time/location/environment wrt the incident, search for trace evidence,

aw hell - just suck it up and move to a small town.

now - if you were concerned bout some 'non-emergency' minutia, you should state that.

But personal robbery by force seems like an emergency to me. It's not like you were overcharged at the pizza parlor.

Actually I hope someone you really care about gets robbed so you can explain your bullshite rationalization to them while they come to terms with the fact that people just like you got us to this point as a society.

This why you carry. Shoot the robber, then don't report it because the cops said don't call 911. In the mean time the robber bleeds out and dies while you file a online report. Or just don't report it, how will the cops ever know.

Bandit, you are usually less irrational than most of this crowd.

Do you actually believe that big city police collect "trace evidence," fingerprints or tire tracks at the scene of this sort of crime? Do you think that they rush a dozen car to the area, searching for the guy wearing the outfit described by the victim? Do you ACTUALLY believe that a statement given to an officer who dropped everything to rush to the screen will have ANY greater likelihood of solving the crime than a statement completed online?

People who constantly complain about government waste and inflated budgets REALLY should not be insisting that police perform pointless tasks.

Dude, you live in Pearland. It's not East Houston, but don't act like Austin is that far removed from many burbs of Houston. The difference is that in Pearland you're going to be in a car most of the time, whereas in Austin you're probably getting ganked at an ATM while on foot, because you're getting loaded.

Well, he robbed you because you just took money out of the ATM, so your picture was recorded.
