Is that why he enacted a travel ban?
Why can't people acknowledge the travel ban was the right thing to do, and also acknowledge that he said a lot of knuckle-headed shite long after that?

Glad he switched gears

He listened to experts and got hammered. He mentioned "back to work by Easter" and gets hammered that it should be the experts' decision. He could come back as Jesus and they would bitch that he didn't bring enough fish.

He clearly ignored the experts early on, or at least pretended it was no big deal in public. Maybe the cases and deaths piling up caused him to change direction.

You really are an idiot if you don’t understand what he did and didn’t do.

As POTUS his first responsibility and actual action was to protect America. And he did this by shutting down travel from China where this thing originated from. His next responsibility is to promote calmness and not create a panic, which he also did right away. And the OMB idiots call that downplaying it.

It’s laughable how disingenuous the sky screamers are simply because a Dem isn’t POTUS.

The POTUS telling people to stay calm and not panic is now considered knuckle headed shite by the left. Y’all really are sick.

No, him saying that the virus was under control, that the 15 cases would soon be zero, and that a miracle would make it go away, etc., is knuckle-headed shite

Stay calm and not panic is the opposite of his guidelines that wrecked the economy, btw

You aren't employing the logic most of the people here use, if Trump said it was going to be disastrous, the media would have downplayed the entire thing just to prove Trump wrong, half the country wouldn't have panicked and the markets wouldn't have crashed.
And the virus would have been a shitload more widespread and possibly caused more deaths...

...and they still would have blamed Trump. So what's the point?

Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. It's just par for the course. That is the logic I use.

Not true, they all announced they were canceling service to China on the 31st but still flew up until Trump’s effective date....I wonder why? Do you think the administration may have coordinated with the airlines (pull my tongue out of my cheek now)

So in sum, do your own research, stop parroting DNC talking points and stop being fake news.

Here's Trump with his task force on January 30, the same day WHO declares a health emergency and one day before the CHI-NAH travel ban.

You can CLEARLY see him not taking any advice from the experts.

On January 14th, the UN/Chinese owned WHO tweeted

quote:

Preliminary investigations conducted by the Chinese authorities have found no clear evidence of human-to-human transmission of the novel #coronavirus (2019-nCoV) identified in #Wuhan, #China,"

They relied on information from Chinese health authorities who have been accused of obscuring facts and figures during the course of the outbreak.

Flights weren't canceled outright to China until Feb other than SK. Trump placed a ban on Jan 30th on flights from China. Should have shut down shipping as well though.

quote:

- Air France (AIRF.PA) - Said on Feb.6 it would suspend flights to and from mainland China for much of March

- Air Seoul - The South Korean budget carrier suspended China flights from Jan. 28 until further notice.

- Air Tanzania - Tanzania’s state-owned carrier, which had planned to begin charter flights to China in February, postponed its maiden flights.

- Austrian Airlines - until end-February.

- British Airways (ICAG.L) - Jan. 29-March 3

The mental gymnastics you have to do on a daily basis to maintain "OMB" is astounding.

Great post Memphisplaya! The mmcgirths, VORs of the world like to rewrite history....but unfortunately in the age of the internet a lot of proof live on and can be thrown in their face (I.e the WaPo, NYT etc...where all publishing articles saying this was a big nothing burger around this timeframe....plus now MSM is parroting Chinese propaganda now. Does anyone actually believe any of the numbers out of China right now?)

Couldn't agree more on both counts.

And so I don't have to remove other people's foot from my mouth (wishful thinking), Trump's overall handling of corona has been far better than I would've expected if you told me what we'd be dealing with ahead of time. In other words, it's a hundred times easier to imagine worse leadership and worse decision making than we've been getting than it is imagine a better scenario.

I was beat to it. Ball is in your court if you can't admit Trump didn't say some truly stupid, misinformed shite, misrepresentation of JuiceTerry's original post notwithstanding.

No he didint.

Even in an article by cnn that had the headline of it being a hoax, they put in the middle of the article, where no one would read it, That he was talking about the media blaming him for it.

He was right.

This aint over yet sport

We've already gone from 2.2 million deaths down to 200,000. And we will probably end up with less than 30,000. Even counting those that died in hospice care, or by suicide. Because they tested positive

Which nations implemented travel bans from China and from Europe before we did?

Fantastic if true, but how does that make "15 cases down to zero" any less knuckle-headed?

The big picture: Because of early missteps by the Trump administration, the virus has already spread widely throughout the United States, undetected, and the number of cases in most major U.S. cities has skyrocketed.

So I actually clicked your link and then a link inside that to find out what the missteps were. The misstep was the mistakes made in testing. This cannot be blamed on Trump, because he did what everyone on the left wanted - he listened to the experts (CDC mostly) and let them be in charge of the testing. They failed. It is only because he pushed to allow others to be able to design and run tests that testing has dramatically expanded.

Should this have been done sooner (at the beginning)? Yes, but then he would have had to ignore the experts. Which is it you want - listen and take the advice of experts or ignore them?

Also, the free market and loosening of government regulation is the only thing that has helped. The problem is government itself prevents proper response.
