What about stop asian hate? I don't think even they can get their stories straight.

These 5 colleges don't even practice affirmative action and they have significantly Asian campuses.
Exactly, there has to be something in his application that is dinging him. Perhaps he has no extracurricular activities. Perhaps he doesn’t interview well. There is something else there that is holding him back though.

If an Asian of high intelligence is getting kept of great colleges, white people are screwed.
I can tell you this is partially true. My daughter went through college application last year. She had a good GPA from a respected boarding school, and I was shocked at some of the schools that rejected her.
What we found is that big state schools are really hard to get into unless you check a particular box…athlete, minority, etc.

I guess reading isn’t your strong suit.

I can see that, but on paper he is smarter than 99% of high school graduates. His SAT score alone is top 1%. He would slot 90% or above of incoming freshman at the schools that rejected him.

Bingo. It is not about the most qualified.

There needs to be some accountability for stuff like this. Like a break down of race, GPA, SATs available because this is wrong. Maybe there was something in his application that dinged him because having 16 deny him is pretty outrageous.
I see why rich families have tried to payoff people at these universities to get their snotty loser kids into schools.

It's about fairness. People get pissed when they see someone wronged for idiotic political or social reasons.

Imagine enrolling at LSU and finding out half the computer science professors can't speak English properly and the other half are still teaching Cobol and Pascal!!
My professors for Organic Chem I and II were both first time instructors. Also, they were both Asian with decently strong language barriers.
It made it quite difficult...
Guess the downvoter never made it to Org Chem...

Yeah there has to be something missing here.
MIT/Caltech/Ivy sure, it happens and it's ridiculous.
But Wisconsin and Washington? I'm not disputing they're good schools but are they really the type to turn away numbers like that?

One of my granddaughters is 16, shes taking all AP classes,. always aces them and will be able to go where she wants. Shes also partly hispanic.
I had this conversation with her regarding affirmative action, even at 15 shes smart enough to realize it waters down your degree and your accomplishments. People will doubt you based on appointment rather than merit.

Also, if you make less than around $90k per year as a family everything is fully paid for. If you make up to about $130k tuition is paid for. If you make more than that though, $75k per year to go to school.
You get financial aid up to $300k a year depending on your circumstances.
You pay a maximum of $15,000 at $150k household income but it only hits $75k+ when your parents are making $200k+.

23% was the target for Whites with 54% of that needing to be female
I don't think there's a gender quota - not one that goes against men. Elite schools get far more women applying than men these days - they're trying to be 50/50 as close as possible which means having to favor men.
Brown for example had a 60+% women applicant pool which means that men had a 50% higher acceptance rate than women.

As for college in general if you aren't looking at ROI and getting a real skill it's likely not worth it. My son wants to do Biomedical Engineering for instance, have to go to college for that.
Going to college is for the connections you make + tapping into the alumni network. At elite schools, there will be lots of kids with connections, fathers and mothers who are partners at law firms, directors at banks etc.

A 4.42 GPA is not that impressive with grade inflation. It makes me think he took a few AP classes, or if he loaded his schedule with them, got Bs. 1590 is also not that impressive of an SAT score at elite colleges. My guess would be his application is pretty typical, and he probably didn’t have a well rounded resume outside of school. But I’m Sakai sort of biased against him for whining to the press about it instead of just using it to fuel him succeeding at a regular school

It's all in Heather McDonald's new book. Just read a chapter on Med schools. The best doctors did not get their B.S. in Pre-Med. They went into more specific STEM fields like micro-biology. A good number of them then applied to medical schools to become doctors. But now they realize that if they're white or Asian they will not get accepted to the best schools. High test scores are disregarded since they have been deemed racist.
So, they are opting out of becoming doctors and going directly into high tech jobs or doing research work for large corporations.
