Ascension Office of Emergency Management director Ricky Webre announces this morning that he’s running for parish president. Then a few minutes ago Sheriff Bobby Webre posted on Facebook that he does not support that and that he’s his own candidate for Sheriff this October.

What is going on in Ascension? Im glad he’s running because I don’t want to vote for Cointment OR Painter but man, there must be some major beef between the two Weber’s for him to come out and publicly say he doesn’t support his brother’s run for president.

Anyone in the know?

All I know is that I was very happy to have Rick Weber in his current role during the storm versus absent matassa. He could be a very good as PP.

Yes. Clint, Murphy Painter, Ricky Diggs, and now Weber.

Cointment is going to be your best bet, but to each his own...

They shouldn't have to.

First cut out the waste that Mastassa created (thru raises and promotions to all his friends). The parish govt is flush with cash, but they can accomplish infrastructure via fed grants, bond issuing without raise taxes.

They're about to have even more cash when 1 million houses get built in the next year or two.

I voted for Clint last time. Unless someone can convince me otherwise, I plan to do so again.

It could be that Bobby Webre is concerned voters will think his family is trying to build a political dynasty in the parish.

He just became sheriff, and now his brother is running for parish president. Bobby Webre might want to build a track record as sheriff before another Webre adds his name to the top of the ballot.

That’s exactly what I’m looking for someone to produce, an infrastructure plan without raising taxes. You can’t tell me this Parish doesn’t have the money. What we need is leadership, which includes telling developers to get fricked unless they produce an infrastructure plan for what they are proposing. This Parish has gotten to big and important to play small town politics.

Webre’s just a splitter candidate meant to keep Cointmont from winning without a runoff. Clint is a shoe-in no matter what.

Does Clint really have a chance to win this time? We need a guy who will stand up to and put a leash on the commercial real estate developers that are just throwing shite up everywhere without a care to infrastructure.

I refuse to believe that the donaldsonville machine is just going to give up here and let Clint win.

Cointment is the best choice for Ascension Parish. Should've been in last election, but Matassa had lots of cronies helping to sway the vote. Those same cronies have all been paid back for their help in some way or the other. Little shite should've been behind bars but as they say, "friends in high places".
Vote Cointment for sound government in Ascension.

Brothers holding the two most powerful positions in the parish? Doesn’t sound like a good idea to me.

He lost the last election by only a few hundred votes. I think he wins it this time regardless of his opposition and/or machine.

He lost to possibly the worst and least qualified candidate to ever win. Then in the mean time since that loss he has pissed off many of the people who supported and donated to his campaign. He and Murphy Painter are going to eat each other alive with Murphy digging up dirt on Clint and Clint's campaign manager digging up dirt on Murphy.

Niether are worth a damn, glad to see Rick put his name in. He is the most qualified in the running and made my choice that much easier.
