Given the current political landscape and debate surrounding the LGBT crowd, I thought this would be something for the political board. I've read about different methods of conditioning children and planting seeds of doubt about sexuality, but this was the first time that I had something like this happen to someone close to me.

Ascension Parish Primary School, Head Start interview for a 4 year old possibly entering a Pre-K program. Some sort of screening process where kids are evaluated before starting Pre-K.

Child and mother are present with a school official and this official asks the 4 year old, "Are you a boy or a girl?"

Kids quickly answers " a boy".

Official - "Are you sure?"

Mom almost falls out of her chair, interview continues and toward the end the child is directed to draw a picture of himself.

Kid draws a stick figure with arms, legs, head, eyes, mouth. Official asks "Hmmm, you said you were a boy, did you forget something on your picture of yourself?"

Mom says, "let's move on to the next part of the interview.

Extra tidbit, Official asks " is he always so hyper?" Mom - "well he does like to stay moving " Official - "Oh well hes going to need to be medicated"

Is this really the sort of crap that is happening?

What would you do?

UPDATE:

I used Head Start, but it was something called Early Child Development, maybe that's the same thing? That's a whole other can of worms...

So, the mom called the principal. I told her to record it, but she was nervous and couldn't get the app to work. She explained the scenario and Principal couldn't believe it, basically commenting "is that question in the screening?" and "she's not qualified". The Principal also let slip that she hasn't even read the screening questions. Are you kidding? Its YOUR school? She promised to read over the screening questions, speak with the interviewer and call her back on Monday. Pretty sad if you ask me. So your school is screening students and as a Principal you haven't even reviewed the screening questions? The principal also could not say whether or not the interviewer had been trained for the screening process. The interviewer is a para-professional, which sounds like an assistant teacher??? So hopefully this is just a case of incompetence on her part and not a targeted approach...

I'll update when I hear back from the school board.

If I'm the parent, the interview doesn't continue.

You need to report this person. Ascension Parish School Board would NOT be ok with this.

That was my thought exactly and I'm trying to push my friend to do this, but some people just like to avoid confrontation ... Trying to build up her courage.

Need to report it. Would the official ask "are you sure" if the boy would have said he was a girl?

And what type of sicko asks this of a 4 year old.

This person needs to report this to the school board. I have 3 kids in school here and will gladly stand behind them. If we allow this to happen here, it’s our own fault.

fist to forehead - that was her initial thought, but she restrained herself.

If legit? - unfortunately very legit, I just spoke with her again and I'm about to contact my school board rep for her. She is a bit in shock...

It's so outrageous, it's hard to believe it's true.

But if it is... yes... you need to contact your school board member.

You forgot the part where mom storms out of there carrying her son and an impromptu crowd gives her a standing ovation

Head start is federally funded and is not a part of local school boards

Not put my kid in pubic school head start.

My wife used to teach head start in Orleans Parish and had to give them an IQ test (Stanford -Binet), to find the 19 slowest among the applicants.

The test was given with no parent present and the questions were straight up to measure cognitive ability of a four year old, (they were asked to touch their elbow or nose, not private parts) she accumulated a bevy of imbeciles and morons --

A few approaching normal slipped through because the parents told them not to talk to the white lady, in hopes they would make the cut.
