re: As a mostly conservative person why should I be against any and all abortion?

This boils down to one important principle and one question all pro abortion people can’t answer and neither can any scientists.
-Should all innocent human life be protected?
-when does life begin?
The answer to the first question is yes, so why do we not make the same arguments for the unborn? If the baby was born prematurely it would automatically be given all human rights. The unborn are the most persecuted “class” of people on earth.
The 2nd question is impossible to answer. It’s why as a pro life person you can’t come up with a magical 8 week, 6 week, etc date when the baby officially becomes human.

Maybe I have this wrong but isn't this kind of a "Nazi" way of thinking. But instead of it being the jews as the targets its the poor.

It is not impossible to answer. Life begins at conception. At that point a unique strand of DNA comes into being that has never existed before, and will never exist again. At that point this new organism begins to display all the hallmarks of life.
This conversation has long gone from the scientific question of whether the baby is alive to the philosophical one of whether the baby is a person and deserving of rights. I don't have time for philosophical gunk. It is a person at conception. People have inalienable rights.

Because you shouldn't kill any human life, especially babies?

I'm a conservative and find it comical that people say this, but don't care about life outside of their social circle. Life is lost everyday, yet people who bitch about abortions aren't passionate in other cases around the world.
This is a really bad argument.
It’s impossible to care about the millions of people that die for various circumstances every day. Even we had that emotional capacity, it would be impossible to know all of them and the circumstances of their death.
But just because it’s impossible to care about everyone doesn’t mean we shouldn’t care care about anyone.

Because these babies will be born into low income environment? Uh.....
Some of the most successful, influential and significant persons in the world come from a background of poverty
Consider this: Every person's actions in life create influences. Who are we to deny the possible? What are we throwing away with each abortion? Let's presume that 1 in every 10,000 babies were to grow up to develop into a person of significance and who creates from his/her life "something" that positively impacts the lives of millions?
That could be through art, literature, science, health, exploration, invention, altruism, leadership, etc..
It could be the next Neil Armstrong, the next Vincent van Gogh, the next Steve Jobs, the next Mother Teresa, or the next Albert Einstein.
We don't know which baby being killed would have grown up and hold the key to developing the vaccine for AIDs, or develop the math to solve cold fusion for unlimited energy.
In short, it's mathematically apparent that we are depriving ourselves of greatness by indiscriminately killing our future.
That's not religion. That's fact.

When were they not alive?
Before the sperm and egg joined and created an entirely new unique being.
A new human life is literally and factually created when the sperm and egg cease to be a separate sperm and egg and create a completely new and completely unique genetic code.
What do you believe?

Consider this:
Every single liberal saying that they support abortion because those babies will be born into lower-income societies and thus aren't worth being alive anyway, are less than one step away from saying that we should just kill everyone in the ghettos because they're dregs on society. That is the ultimate psychotic limousine liberal position.
When you begin playing the game of which human life is more important than the other and that one deserves to live, you're in some extremely dangerous territory.

The dead sperm and dead egg? That’s when life begins?
The fact is that there is always life. It’s all about drawing a line.

If you believe life always exists are you suggesting you support the killing of life when it is perceived inconvenient to society?

Leave your religion out of it and give me a logical reason why before you have a heartbeat we should not allow abortions? As long as the fetus doesn’t feel on what’s wrong with it? Let’s be honest this country would actually be better off if most of the Poors didn’t reproduce. The welfare system is a plague on this country that is only growing and bottom rung of society is outbreeding the actual well to do people. We should encourage abortion in these areas to lower the population of these vagrants
If you don't recognize the value of the unborn life, how can anyone convince you otherwise?

The Bible is pretty clear when human life begins.
"And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."
You become a living soul when you take your first breath

Or if we just killed all the poor, right?
I'll ask you a question,
If you support killing babies in the womb because welfare is bloated, why wouldn't you support just killing everyone on welfare that gets pregnant?

Only conservative Evangelicals and Catholics have theologians who think life begins at conception.
quote:not exactly. the hebrew actually points to injury, not miscarriage. there is a hebrew word specifically for miscarriage used elsewhere but not used here. that would explain the fine, which would be for whatever care is needed due to the injury
In Exodus, the penalty for making a female miscarry was a fine levied by the father for the child that miscarried. If you killed a pregnant female, you paid with your life. It was clear the life of a born person was valued above the life of a fetus.
quote:first trimester pregnancy does not afford a woman the right to murder a baby simply because it's inconvenient to her
My personal belief is that abortion in the first trimester is a decision to be made the woman carrying the fetus
