I think you underestimate the motivation that going hungry can instill in people.

Yes, there will be a certain segment that will still be shitty people. And they can starve to death for all I care.

I don’t like it anymore than the rest of this board but I’ve worked in Ag in north MS for most of my life and I don’t doubt the OP for a second

When I talk to people with direct contact to the field labor (I'm in O&G) the biggest problem they have with low end American labor is showing up on time and passing a drug test.

exactly

Consider the people you went to high school with.

Now consider the bottom 5% of the class. They were not necessarily the dumbest but they probably didn't show up much and they were probably lazy.

Have an upvote. A lot of the of other Whites in here don’t want to admit that Hisps (short for Hispanics) physically outwork us.

I own several businesses that are involved in some type of agriculture. I can't find amyone willing to work that can be reliable and pass a drug test. So I resort to H2A workers. I get Mexican and south African labor for 90% of my labor force.

The immigrant workers take so much more pride in their work go above and beyond to get the job done to perfection. They don't have to hav e baby sitter in order to get a job done right

shite, my family had to hire a permanent resident who was originally from South Africa just to make our south african laborers work and to keep them from getting into fights with our American especially our African American employees. Plus those people have no loyalty at all. It does not matter if they signed a contract our not they head to North Dakota or Nebraska or to a custom harvester crew the second that someone offers them a $1/hr more money.

I have no problem with that. That is why I went to school, so I wouldn't have to worry about them physically outworking me. All sorts of people physically outwork me. Not as many mentally outwork me.

and just curious - why would you abbreviate Hispanics and then immediately write more to explain the abbreviation than you would have just spelling it out in the first place?

I have no problem with that, as long as they are here legally.

Also, dude, "Hisps" is not the preferred nomenclature.

Sure they can outwork me physically, but mentally....get the frick outta here. We kick their asses in that. When the going gets tough, they quit. Truth.

Here's a couple of screenshots from a famous CBS documentary by Edward R. Murrow called "Harvest of Shame" about itinerant agriculture workers in 1960.

Anybody notice something different?

The illegal immigrants robbed us of building a work ethic in the domestic generation of workers we are now seeking.... we sold our souls for cheap labor and are now paying the consequences.

100% agree. South Africans have been an issue lately. 1 out 4 are great. The others are just looking for a life experience and a party. Mexicans have been theost loyal. Have had 3 men who have been withe for 10 + years.

You can’t find anyone reliable for what you are willing to pay...

Because I’m the only one that I know of who calls them that and I’m sort of hoping it catches on.

it could be easier. make it easier to become a citizen once a visa is acquired. I mean if they pay taxes and embrace American values IDGAF where they are from. Especially if they like football and have good looking sisters. Only beautiful people get citizenship tho

No they didn't. They simply filled a void caused by LBJ's "Great Society" programs.

Why work in the field when you can just sit back and let the taxpayer take care of you?

Once they become citizens, they will be eligible for full welfare.

What will happen to that vaunted Hispanic work ethic at that point? Surely you don't think they are too proud to get on the government teat.

Why do you hate capitalism?

Either match the offer or watch them go.

Loyalty doesn't put food on the table.
