Wasn’t DACA for wall funding on the table a year ago?

Message Art of the Deal? by Ebbandflow So Trump rejected 1.6 billion before the government shutdown, then shut down the government, and now is getting a smaller number?

You should read the book.
An Excerpt:
When Trump started his run, a Wall was not part of the equation for either party. In fact, it was the exact opposite of what either political party wanted. Both were trying to figure out which one of them was going to get the credit for opening the border completely and legalizing anyone who came across faster than the other one was willing to do it.
And then came Trump.
Now, if you had a less than charitable opinion on Donald Trump's honesty, how would you evaluate this statement (in light of the paragraph above, which is excerpted from the Art of the Deal).
"I want a 1700 mile wall that will cost $25 billion dollars! And Mexico is gonna pay for it!"
Having trouble?
Here, let me see if I can make this easier for you by giving you some choices:
1) Trump wants a 1700 mile wall that will cost $25 billion dollars and Mexico is gonna pay for it.
2) Trump wants a 1700 mile wall that will cost $25 billion dollars and the US is gonna pay for it.
3) Trump wants a wall where it makes sense. He doesn't give a shite how much it costs or who pays for it.
Now, let's say (for the sake of argument) that Trump is a man who is a bit of a.....ahem.....showman. A negotiator. Someone whom you should take seriously....but not literally.
When he makes a statement like "I want a 1700 mile wall that will cost $25 billion dollars and Mexico is gonna pay for it!".......should you (a really smart guy) take him.....literally?

My style of deal-making is quite simple and straightforward. I aim very high, and then I just keep pushing and pushing and pushing to get what I'm after. Sometimes I settle for less than I sought, but in most cases I still end up with what I want.

Wait, is this even up for debate?
He hired a writer to write "art of the deal" - it's not even secret, he was open about it.

What happened to "no money for a wall"?
Posted on 2/13/19 at 12:06 pm to Ebbandflow
The wall is being built and Nancy caved
That's exactly the art of the deal

Will Democrats have been agreeing that there should be barriers and strategic location since 2006. Everyone on this board agrees. Looks like the Democrats got what they've always wanted and Donald Trump Trump's looks like an asshat with poor negotiation skills.
But y'all said a wall was immoral. frick, Beto was still saying it 2 nights ago

Honestly, it is a disappointment. A fraction of what is needed, but this falls on the backs of spineless republicans who are pushovers in negotiations. Trump lost the moment he agreed to sign to reopen the govt.
The bright side is that at least some of the wall is going up. They'll have to repeat this dance in September and piecemeal the remainder of the wall.

Faking as if you are holding political opponents to the promises they made to the people that voted for them is disingenuous as hell and serves no point but to be inflammatory.
LOL, what? I see this daily/weekly on this board when someone tries to highlight a DEM issue. Nothing wrong with calling out irresponsibility and lies, as an American, regardless of political party.

Lol. This is Rich. So it went from a giant border wall that would span the entire Southern border oh, that Mexico was going to pay for, to a 200 total mile area and less money than he was offered before shutdown? Lol. Come on.
It was also going to be made of concrete instead of peaches.

It went from No Immoral Walls or barriers to Bollard Fencing.

Well, whether you believe it or not, the book was ghost written.
As for the negotiations and deals, I'd like to think that Trump has learned a little about the functioning of constitutional government and representative democracy. If he has, that can only be a good thing.
