For and think they ought to add rape and sexual assault against children and the elderly

Against
No moral objection to it
if I could be certain every time I would support it

I understand why people are for the death penalty in the abstract. I just don't know how anyone who's ever interacted with government or met a jury can be for the death penalty

God will grant justice even if human courts and judges don’t.
Justice—even the death penalty—is one of the few things that government should be doing.

For it. Just wish it was knocked out within a month. No need to have something someone can avoid. Pointless.
As a Christian, I don't find it to be something God is against.
As an American, I don't find it is something that is unconstitutional.
So let's get it done. Heck open it up to lifers, and criminals who are not going to be any kind of benifit to society.

I’m for it in principle, I think some crimes warrant punishment by execution.
However, the problem is corrupt police and DAs. There is a long history of innocent people being sentenced to death.
So for that reason, I tend to prefer we err on the side of caution and not execute people.

I'm against it mostly. I'd rather they work a life of hard labor giving back to society, earning a paycheck, and giving that to the victim's families. If they choose not too, they can quickly go to a swift execution. They can live in self sustained compounds and dealt with harshly if they step out of line.
Definitely seems like the system in place now not only occasionally executes innocent people, but also doesn't really give anything back to the victim's beside a peaceful death for the killer. And it's not much of a deterrent for people on the Fringe of society, we need to make sure it is.

Costs less to lock em up for life. Damn automatic appeals make death penalty nearly double the cost of life.

For. Swiftly and public for the worst of the worst.

Against. I’m not sure how anyone that follows our criminal justice system would be ok with allowing the same system to decide life and death.

I support whichever side makes me the most money.

It would be easy to sit behind the keyboard and talk tough about putting a convicted criminal to death but My conscience doesn’t go away because of the internet.
I’m pro life From conception to the grave, guilty or innocent.
I do support infliction of pain to those convicted of a capital crime. I think that would he more of a deterent anyway.

In some cases.
However, we delay the execution for 20+ years so it’s really justice delayed.
I’m mostly against government killing people.
I’m against government funded abortion.
I’m sort of against the death penalty because the government may mess up and kill someone who is not deserving.
I would reserve death penalty for telephone scams, identity theft, rape, and murder.

This is a tough one for me. I would say I'm generally against the state having the power to end people's lives, but as a society we do need to have the ultimate deterrent for those who would harm others.
I would say that the standards of evidence for sentencing to death need to be extremely high.

For!
End the never-ending appeals process. Once you have appealed and lost. That's it.
The death penalty stops repeat offenders.

For.
I actually think you should die immediately following your sentence. Like be pushed into the prison furnace and help heat the building.
IK IK what about DNA evident exonerating people? Good point, but it is a minutia of the cases, especially these days when motherfrickers are trying to let people know it was them that did it.
Immediate death lessens burden on taxpayers and keeps prison populations low.
