Short sighted is being dependent on another nation for your manufacturing as we are seeing now with China. Batsoup-buttflu may not send China back into the rice age, but if/when the big one does come, would it have been wiser to be so dependent upon them or to decouple them from our economy?

America first obviously. But it doesn't necessarily have to be at the detriment of other countries.

Not if the detriment is not necessary. However, if their detriment is to our national interest. So be it.

Iran considered it detrimental that Trump turned their top general into dog food.

If by nationalist you mean a people bound by a common culture, language, interests, and exercising their right of self determination,

yes, I suppose so.

I think part of the discussion is which part of the nation do you support?

All of it? Or just the part you happen to agree with?

We're always going to be dependent on someone for something like it or not. That's the way the modern global economy works. We can't have everything under the sun here in America. If for no other reason we're resource constrained.

We need the cooperation of other nations to keep our economy growing and humming along. If you disagree with that it's because you're misinformed and shouldn't have an opinion about anything ever again.

I hate when elected politicians think it's an insult to expect them to care about our country.

Democrat politicians are the worst. If ya listen to some of them talk, you'd think that America is worse than some third world shitholes. The only thing about our country that is similar to a third world shithole, is the corruption in our intelligence agencies. But that's not the thing politicians talk about when talking down about our country.

The only part of this nation I disagree with are those who want to put other nations or the UN before America.

When anyone starts with the "UN" bull. I automatically know they are an America-hating POS.

Definitely not the ignorant shite like socialism and the incessant celebrating of all the mental illnesses.

That is correct. At the same time, it doesn't make anything after the comma incorrect.

Actually, yes we can in American. If we exploited our own resources, every other nation could sink into the ocean and we would be fine. If you are so informed, tell me what other nations have that we couldn’t get ourselves. Oil, rare earth minerals, cheap plastic funko pop dolls, or what?

For starters 95% of the natural rubber on the planet is produced in Asia. Without natural rubber the global economy would come to a screeching halt.

ETA - Not to mention the obvious but if no other nations exist we would have no exports. So anything that we might have an excess of here is instantly devalued.

America’s interest is in my top 5 of things I care about. Or maybe you meant all other nations?

I'm not really a fan of this definition because it kind of sounds unnecessarily negative.

I'm a nationalist in that yeah, when I vote for my leaders, I expect them to put MY nation first. I also expect voters in other nations to do the same for their citizens.

And, then, you allow the push and pull of self interest to generate the best outcomes.

The whole "exclusion and detriment" language is just overwrought.

You do realize that the best interests of the country don’t entail full, unabated America only policy, right? People that put up with a dick boss so they don’t get fired are putting their family first.

Having allies is still good for America, but we shouldn’t allow them to frick us in the arse. It’s honestly that simple.

I'm essentially saying the same thing you are

But others seem to think we don't need allies. Look up a few posts at whatever that weirdo is saying about other countries sinking into the ocean. Dude is an absolute moron.
