Are there seriously people on this board arguing Iran wasn’t behind oil tanker bombing?

Come on guys, there is literally video evidence coming out tonight showing Iranian ships removing undetonated mines from one of the tankers.

I don’t know what our response should be, but we can’t let Iran do something like this with no consequence

I’m definitely not for another war. I think those bastards are up to no good. Cripple them with more sanctions. Put pressure on their allies.

Why cant't we? We're basically self-sufficient with oil. I say sit back and let the other chump countries spend their own money on that shite.

Yep. They are only effecting us indirectly.

Let someone else handle policing the ME for a while.

Just watched the video, and I'm unfortunately affected by the current trend of being overly skeptical. It just seems counterintuitive that Iran would have a boat so openly retrieve the unexploded mine surely knowing there are U.S. military eyes in the sky. BUT I don't believe Pompeo would make the statement he did without being fully convinced...no doubt any such statement is considered with the thought of avoiding a Colin Powell moment.

Ultimately I do believe Iranian govt/military carried out these attacks and their tactics are scary-smart. They're provoking just short of a clear red line thereby putting us in a dilemma as to how to respond. They seem to know what will likely not draw military reprisal, especially unilaterally.

Tl;dr

It's a false flag. Not surprised you dont think it is since you are a neocon and want a war in Iran.

I believe it was Iran. I think they want war or are have nuclear weapons. They want the US to retaliate

I’m not opposed to retaliation as long as it’s done the right way.

Just like there was evidence of the Syrian Army using gas on civilians and it turned out that it was the jihadist rebels we supported that were the guilty party?

Look, if Iran wanted to close the Straits of Hormuz, they could have done it. They didn't, and thus far have denied this attack.

The Saudis are not our friends, and objectively are the world's largest funders of the Islamic jihad.

This is not to say that Iran IS our friend, but perhaps we should think about this as adults instead of rushing into war. Having Iran as a counterbalance for Saudi Arabia may be in our best interest.

The last time we went charging into Iraq under the pretense of WMDs, we really screwed the pooch...and the division of resources and lack of focus led to our defeat in Afghanistan.

When and if Iran uses nukes on the United States or a NATO ally not named Turkey, turn the place into the world's largest crystal serving tray. Till then, butt out.

Sketchy video of Iran helping the tanker by removing unexploded ordinance is evidence that Iran attacked the tanker? Where is the video of the attack? Surely an area as vital as the Strait of Hormuz has satellites, drones, and surveillance ships watching it, especially after Iran supposedly attacked freighters just a couple weeks ago.

But Israel isn't interested in being part of the front. That is why Jerusalem has issued so few official statements on the Iranian issue, and why Netanyahu has urged ministers to be cautious in what they say.

And you expect us to reveal our surveillance capabilities to the public on something relatively minor like this? Not gonna happen.

But, this isn't enough to go to war over. Let Europe or the other Middle East countries carry their own water.

Yep. Looks bad. Frankly though, the most damning evidence is Iran State TV airing the identical footage, but with the Iranian mine removal edited out. If there is nothing to see, why edit it? Seems like a tacit admission.

The blatant stupidity of the action on Iran's part is the reason folks might think Iran wasn’t behind the bombing. You'll find all asking the same question, "Why would Iran do that? What would they have to gain?"

Media manipulation of something is proof a nation committed an act?

Sounds as if you think that Iran is not a puppet to the Deep State. Sounds as if you think Iran calls it's own shots.
