Im curious because say your a Democratic voter. Why would you want a candidate who is a centrist or conservative Democrat?

Same with republicans. Say your a Republican senator in a purple state up for re-election. Do you vote along party lines and risk moderate vote? Or do you work with other side then get killed on talk radio and get called a rino.

Maybe I’m wrong but I never met someone who votes both parties? And what issues decide the way you vote if your independent?

Yes, I think so.

Truth is, there's a lot of sane, normal people who happen to be registered Dem voters. They want normalcy, not extremism.

Hell, don't you remember Bill Clinton getting into a shouting match with some BLM guy, before Hillary's campaign staff shut him down? The current party is not what it was under him. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he lied about his vote...

The majority of independents and moderates I know are all socially liberal and fiscally conservative.

I think second amendment, abortion, marijuana legalization and gay marriage is where you separate the ultra right vs the ultra left. At least for the most part.

Most people will either lean towards one party or the other, or will always vote third party. I think very very few people flip between GOP and Dem. Especially nowadays.

I used to be pretty hardcore lefty on many issues. I’d mostly vote Dem, but often I’d vote 3rd party. Rarely did I ever vote GOP.

What issues changed you from being hard left? Also what do you think of today’s Democratic Party?

Louisiana was a strong trump state but has a democratic governor.

Yea, there are people who cross party lines depending on the positions and personalities of the candidates.

I think you’d be surprised. The democratic party has changed a lot in a very short amount of time. Even during first term Obama there was a such thing as pro life, pro traditional marriage democrats. (I believe Obama didn’t change his mind about gay marriage until his second term). In today’s Democratic Party that same voter would immediately be labeled a woman hating homophobic nazi. And probably a racist too just for good measure.

Then broaden who you talk to. I fall to the left on some issues and the right on others and have voted for both parties. The past presidential election I voted for Trump, the two before that Obama, and the one before that Bush. This upcoming one I’m undecided, it’ll come down to who the Dem nominee is.

You are wrong, it’s “you’re” which is a contraction of “you are”, As opposed to what you wrote twice.

I voted Clinton, Gore,Kerry,Obama, Obama,

I was a lifetime Democrat, but they swung so far left it made me right leaning independent. I do not like Trump's antics all the time, but I like the results.

The reason that a voter would prefer a centrist candidate is because the country functions better when it is not gyrating from one extreme to the other each time there is a change in control.
