They certainly aren’t embodiments of success, that’s for damn sure.

I have friends that moved out to Portlandia. They are in total denial mode. Claim that nothing bad is happening and that it’s all fake news and OMB.

Because they believe political violence is normal.

Sibling was in denial having lived in Portland for 10 years....when she couldn't leave her downtown apartment at night because of craziness and no Cops, she fled to Boise 2 years ago and couldn't be happier.

Unfortunately she is likely the moronic type that will keep voting for stupid feel good shite and ruin Boise.

Nah...she's modest and conservative....that's why she feels at home in Boise with her husband.

Portland wasn't all blue hairs once upon a time, just some quirky people among die-hard Trailblazer fans.

The rural parts of Oregon that borders Idaho are making a lot of noise about leaving Oregon & being declared a part of Idaho. As for L.A. being clean & spotless, perchance anything to do with POTUS Donald Trump sending large numbers of ICE agents there? All those miles & miles of homeless settlements. all over the City & burbs, are now gone?

Portland, Oregon's recent budget trends show an ongoing challenge with flagging revenues and a budget shortfall, leading to increased fees for services like rideshare and parking, and reliance on unspent funds and state aid.

The FY 2025-26 budget, the first under a new city government, focuses on curbing homelessness by adding shelter beds and supports public safety, while avoiding significant cuts to parks through fund reallocation and new fees.

Key Budget Trends & Issues
Revenue Shortfalls: A significant budget shortfall has been driven by flagging tax revenues from downtown commercial vacancies and reduced parking revenue following the pandemic.

Increased Fees: To address the shortfall, the city has increased fees on rideshare services, short-term rentals, downtown parking, and golf courses.

Reliance on Temporary Funds: A substantial portion of the budget deficit was covered by unspent funds from the current year and external funding from sources like Metro and the state legislature.

Homelessness Initiatives: The budget includes substantial investment in curbing homelessness, with plans to open new shelter beds and fund existing tiny home villages.

Public Safety and Parks Funding: The budget prioritizes public safety and aims to keep parks open and maintain them by reallocating some funds from other bureaus.

New Government Structure: The 2025-26 budget is the first under Portland's new, expanded 12-person city council form of government.

Recent Budget Decisions (FY 2025-26) Total Budget: $8.6 billion.

Spent a week up there in 2009, when LSU played in Seattle. Enjoyable trip. Now, still know a few folks up there, the minority of people have ruined it.
