In regards to the Pensacola shooter...

Nope, nope, nope... slippery slope. Why does this shite get brought up over and over again? This was beat to death with with the California terrorist and ultimately the gov did it itself, do it again.

I feel sorry for the mom, but she doesn’t understand how this works... you can’t just unlock a particular phone and not open up the possibility to others.

Reminder: Google was ordered to turn over all of Jussie Smollets phone and email records and they complied.

Apple should be ashamed of themselves.

This is twice they wouldn't assist in the prosecution of a terrorist

Interesting case in the the debate between civil liberties and public safety. Does Apple have a duty to unlock a phone for the government (assuming it actually could)?

I think Apple should let the government figure out the code or get through the encryption. I think law enforcement has the ability to do it but does not want to make that too obvious.

There is also more to this story than the FBI is sharing. There is a second iPhone that they can’t get into.

quote:

The FBI only notified us on January 6th that they needed additional assistance a month after the attack occurred. Only then did we learn about the existence of a second iPhone associated with the investigation and the FBI's inability to access either iPhone. It was not until January 8th that we received a subpoena for information related to the second iPhone, which we responded to within hours.Early outreach is critical to accessing information and finding additional options

It’s 2020 now. Do any of you honestly trust the FBI more than the average “journalist” or billboard lawyer?

I don't see any legit reason why apple should not open the phone or assist in opening the phone. To claim there is no backdoor like they said, is a total lie

Don't trust the narrative. There are a million reasons that the FBI would want you to believe, that your phones are secure.

You don't want the fish to realize, that a hook, is inside that big chunk of rabbit liver.

Once you’ve granted authority, where do you draw the line?

Supreme Court?
Federal Judge?
State Level?
Teachers/Principals?
Concerned Parent?

I lean towards yay Apple here with no reservations that the government doesn’t already have what they want as far as electronic surveillance. I don’t know, maybe this is a way the government is protecting its surveillance capabilities?

Such a sad state of 4th amendment violations these days that maybe Apple puts on the “show” for the public.

Apple so far was not ordered to do so, it was just a request.

Because once they do the entire system is compromised.

Is opening one phone worth opening every other phone?

You would think with all the resources at their disposal, that our government could get into a freakin telephone within minutes.

This is where the government reaps what they sow. Absent any other logic, absolutely, Apple should unlock the phone of a terrorist. But only liberals live in the world absent of logic. The government has proven time after time that after they get their wedge in the door, they soon after blow the door off the hinges.

They never will be, it's part of the narrative, while The FBI somehow discovers other genius ways to discover what they want to know.
They sure wouldn't want you, to start distrusting your phone.

Apple phones are totally safe, they should be the preferred phone of anybody with secrets. FBI might as well be doing commercials for apple, with that guy from SNL..yeah..that's the ticket!

Subpeonas aren't meant to be able to make a person perform an action other than hand over records. Apple is right to refuse these requests. I think there must be something else they're playing at with all of this.

I've never trusted my phone or any other electronic item. I end a lot of phone calls with "to whoever is listening, frick YOU!"

You know, I turned my ad blocker off on this laptop.
A few days ago, I posted about having some back problems, I am suddenly being hit by all kinds of back relief ads.
Even if you have the ad blocker, you are always being monitored, you just don't realize how much.
