For years the Left has anguished at the Right's better propaganda ability at claiming "patriotism". The Left hasn't done themselves any favors by actively supporting those who come here illegally nor in making comments like "America was never that great". The above quote is what I see as a new tactic in the claim for patriotism by the Left: if you can't win it, destroy it. What they are attempting to do now is to create then enforce a stereotype that any person or group describing themselves as "patriots" (or any derivative) are white racists.

If this tactic seems familiar it's because you've seen them use this play before with the terms "gender" and "immigrant". Their current pushes on these fronts are that gender can mean anything you want it to and the use of immigrant to also refer to illegals but with the purposeful intent to infer legal status.

That's because this is their last stand. They've lost the middle working class, the black community is starting to wake up to the fact that they've been screwed over, and the legal Hispanics are flocking to the right due to the fact that they're upset at the way the Democrats are handling immigration.

So, the only solution is for them to associate the right with the slogan of "they don't want you because you look different." They literally have nothing else to harp on at this point. And quite frankly, they're still overplaying this hand.
