When Bonnie and Clyde went to jail for bank robbing, they were separated from their kids. Does the Bible say that this is wrong

So Bonnie & Clyde were trying to escape gangs and rapings and make a better life for their family? I thought they were robbers .... didn’t know they were fleeing for their life. Your analogy sux.

Exactly. Considering the word didn't exist in English until 1892, it actually made it into popular vernacular and into a translation of the Bible (the RSV) remarkably quickly; just over 50 years.

Wow. So you don't think it's wrong to rip children from their parents? Innocent children I might add.

You act like they are going into law abiding citizen's homes and take their children away for no reason. Or going into Mexico and stealing children.

Sessions is dumb bringing in the bible into this.

In the Same Romans - Just read downa tiny bit and you read -

Romans 13:10 New International Version (NIV)
10. Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

By the way I am against Trump regarding many things but with him about the need to reduce illegals. That being said there is nothing to be won by bringing the Bible into it.

If we’re quoting scripture on the subject...

quote:

Leviticus 19:33 "When a foreigner resides with you in your land, you must not oppress him. 34 You must treat the foreigner living among you as native-born and love him as yourself, for you were foreigners in the land of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.…

Already been covered, but yeah quoting the Bible to defend this behavior is ridiculous.

He was responding to the Catholic Church when he said it, as I pointed out in the OP.
I understand why he did this given the context, but even when speaking with a religious leader about the morality of a policy, I still think it should be framed around the justification of that policy from a government perspective. Bernie’s policies could probably have some religious justifications, buf they’re bad policies because it’s counter to the economic research, regardless of your religion or any other demographic.

And it’s hard to argue against good policy using the Bible or any other religious text, if the evidence shows it’s good policy, unless whatever God someone worships wanted us to use the brain he gave us to make poor decisions.

The verse cited by Sessions was used for years to justify slavery. What was old becomes new again.

On one side, the media / democrats / church officials are saying these kids came here with their parents, seek asylum, and are split up.

On the other side, the republicans are saying these kids are from families here illegally.

If you show up at the border and seek asylum, that should not be considered being here illegally.

The Bible stuff is nonsense. Illegal Immigration is.....you guessed it Illegal. How about don't try and come here illegally and you won't get separated from your family? How about that?

Also, Paul's instruction is to follow laws as necessary for maintaining order. It does not speak of if the law is unjust.

Slavery was wrong... but according to this... we should be ok with it at the time it was occuring because follow the law.

The problem is literally anyone can do this. Saying you are seeking asylum doesn't make it true. It is used as an excuse and abused. That is the problem. What happens to me if I try and 'seek asylum' in Mexico?

Well then, it's settled. No more challenges to abortion. It's the law and the law must be followed. So says the highest legal officer of the Trump administration.
