I assume the headline is intended as a not-so-thinly veiled dig at the AG. But reading his quote I have no problem at all with his reasoning. Sessions' point is that it's the parents who are risking their children's welfare by bringing them here illegally. In response the Catholic church saying that what the USA is doing is immoral, Sessions said this:

quote:

"I would cite you to the Apostle Paul and his clear and wise command in Romans 13, to obey the laws of the government because God has ordained them for the purpose of order," he said. "Orderly and lawful processes are good in themselves and protect the weak and lawful."

He went on to say:
quote:

"I can say that it is very biblical to enforce the law. That is actually repeated a number of times throughout the Bible," she said. "It's a moral policy to follow and enforce the law."

"The separation of illegal alien families is the product of the same legal loopholes that Democrats refuse to close, and these laws are the same that have been on the books for over a decade, and the president is simply enforcing them," she said

I hope the media turns their ire towards Sessions. He needs to GTFO.

That may be true, but I don't think he's wrong here. Not wrong politically, morally, or Scripturally IMO.

Sessions is a retard.

But if families don't want to get separated, then don't cross the border illegally. It's pretty cut and dry.

If I rob a bank with my son I don't get to stay with him, once arrested, just because he came with me.

I don't care. It's fricking brain dead to quote the damn bible when defending this topic. It makes him look like everything the democrats love to mock. And they wouldn't be wrong in this case.

He was responding to the Catholic Church when he said it, as I pointed out in the OP. it's not like he's giving the Bible as his rationale in general terms or as a political strategy. The Catholic Church is saying to the Trump administration that their deportation of illegals is immoral. Sessions responded by saying "Go read your own Bibles."

I thought it was brilliant.

The optics aren’t that clear, but he is quoting the Bible when refuting the Catholic Church.

I’ll allow it.

Since Sessions was responding to a priest who said it was immoral to separate the children from their parents, I think it was brilliant for Sessions to respond by citing the verse from the Bible that he cited.

Meh, since Sessions was responding to a priest who said it was immoral to separate children from their parents, it was not only appropriate but also brilliant for Sessions to cite the particular passage from the Bible that he cited.

I'm not sure who these Catholic leaders are, but they should look beyond the money available to these people in the U.S.

Yes, we are a rich and welcoming country and people. But willful disregard for law is not the way of the Lord in my opinion. Look at the crime, ruining of a safe living environment, furtherance of the welfare state or to say nothing encouraging lack of personal responsibility for one's actions. Do they not believe that gaining advantage over people following the proper legal course is not an egregious and sinful activity or what about putting their children at risk?

These priests/bishops and parishioners should look deeper into their soul. There are many ways to support these people other than encouragement to breaking U.S. Immigration Laws and furthering the left's anarchist march toward Marxism.

Cherry picking bible verses is one of the most destructive practices seen by so called christians. Besides the fact that Paul wrote most of the new testament in jail for breaking immoral laws, it is also a failed attempt at weaponizing scripture for selfish purposes. This is the long lost verse for the republicans during the 8 years of the Obama administration. But IF you really like scripture on this, lets go:
Exodus 12:49 and Leviticus 24:22 – “There shall be one law for the native and for the alien who resides among you.”

Exodus 22:21 – Moses gives God’s law: “You shall not wrong or oppress a resident alien; for you were aliens in the land of Egypt.”

Leviticus 19:9-10 and 23:22 – Moses gives God’s law: “You shall not strip your vineyards bare…leave them for the poor and the alien.”

Leviticus 19:33-34 and 24:22 – When the alien resides with you in your land, you shall not oppress the alien. The alien who resides with you shall be to you as the citizen among you; you shall love the alien as yourself, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.”

Leviticus 24:23 – Moses receives God’s law: “With me you are but aliens and tenants.”

Numbers 9:14 and 15:15-16 – “…you shall have one statute for both the resident alien and the native.”

Numbers 35 and Joshua 20 – The Lord instructs Moses to give cities of refuge to the Levites so that when the Israelites must flee into Canaan they may have cities of refuge given to them.

Wow. So you don't think it's wrong to rip children from their parents? Innocent children I might add.
