it would be really awkward when sessions wins. or nostalgic, depending on your vantage.

Voted Sessions.

According to Senate rules he'll get his seniority back.
It's all about seniority in Washington. Shelby is the 3rd most powerful senator in Washington. He sits on the most powerful committee in Washington...the appropriations.
This is an extremely logical take.

I'm a left-winger and I wouldn't vote Shelby out of office if I could. This state would be hobbled without all the federal money he brings in. That God for limited government and balanced budgets, huh?

Do you need a plurality or majority for the nomination to run in November?

One candidate needs to get to 50%. If no candidate does so, the two candidates with the highest percentages will go to a runoff to be held on (I believe) March 31.

Alabama politics are a shiteshow

Hoping Sessions doesn’t win. Moore can ride his horse off a fricking cliff for all I care.

I voted Sessions.... He has been thoroughly vetted, over many elections cyles. Doug Jones is sitting on a huge war chest. Sessions is the closest thing to a cinch to beat Doug Jones and that is the main priority

So naive. What has he done for Alabama. At least we know Tuberville won’t backstab the President. Freakin swamp love.

In Huntsville they have a saying:
"In Alabama they look to Montgomery, but in Huntsville they look to Washington."

Hunstville's a federal gov't city.
US Missile Defense Command
Redstone Arsenal.

I think most Republicans are for defense spending. Which benefits Hunstville.
Which helps all the contractors which is an economic boom for Hunstville and Alabama. It has the 2nd largest Research Park in the country behind the Research Triangle in NC, packed full of Fortune 500 companies.

Then there's Marshall Spaceflight Center/NASA. Again Federal spending that helps Alabama and in turn America.

The FBI's 2nd Headquarters being built in Huntsville.

So Alabama is uniquely tied to Washington, DC.

What exactly do you think is floating out there regarding Tubbs or Byrne that could possibly cost them the election? Moore just barely lost the last election and he had years of scandals behind him on top of the revelations that he's most likely a statutory rapist. Look, I'll be voting for Jones, but Moore is literally the only candidate he stands a chance in hell of beating.

You and I are saying the same thing, we need to keep that federal money gravy train rolling into Alabama, and seniority is how we do that.

I already qualified my vote for Sessions. The only thing that matters in Congress is representation.
Alabama would have a bigger voice with Sessions. Historically, it's rare to have a Cabinet member then go serve in the Senate. Sessions has a lot of allies in Congress, including McConnell and he'll big committee assignments.

It doesn't matter to me, but does to some people, but Byrne opposed Trump.

Tuberville just seems like an empty suit, he's just saying what he needs to. He doesn't seem all that bright. And he's a Florida resident.

Even if they all agree on the same issues, they do, you go with who will have seniority in Washington.

Gravy train is not the correct term for defense spending and space exploration. Those are necessary line items for the country to protect itself and advance science.

Defense is not pork.

Take the cost of everything the military currently does, subtract what it would actually cost for the USA to protect itself, and the few hundreds of billions of dollars you have left are pork. Eisenhower got it right when he described the military industrial complex.

But hey, that money is going to be spent somewhere. Alabama might as well get it.
