This is where the majority of student loan debt comes from. It isn't because people can't pay it, it is because they would rather put their money towards fun things like a nicer car or bigger home so they pay the minimum and carry the loan for years longer than needed. She could have paid that loan off easily in her first year of earning a $175K salary.
