Just a guess.

It's a bad guess. Corruption is going to be inherent in every system, but it's the lack of competition that allows it go grow unchecked. It's the exact same reason we have laws against monopolies.

In a monopoly scenario there is zero competition. So what happens? The monopolists use that to their advantage and stack the deck in their favor.

Same theory here. More competition, less corruption.

She's really stupid. If you watch her (and of course it's not recommended), she really believes every idiocy coming out of her mouth. A regular oracle of Delphi she thinks she is!

There's a term I can't remember right now for this. You essentially push the leftist (or right, for that matter) further and further so that you can call what used to be extreme to now be centrist. It attempts to normalize philosophies that are still and should be considered extreme.

This is a textbook case.

I generally agree with that, but politics is a closed system. The only ones let in are closely vetted.
Competition works as an advantage in products, prices, and innovation.

Different mechanism, imo.

All the more reason to create two separate parties. That way the party doesn't get pushed to the extreme. Let the extremists form their own party.

People shouldn't be afraid of it. Let them go. They'll not really ever have any power. This way the rational Democrats can have their party back and we can try and get this ship back on course.

She's right and wrong. I get why she's saying this. She looks at conservative parties in Europe and how they're stuck supporting socialist policies like universal healthcare or free college. But they're stuck supporting those policies because they've become ingrained into the populace and it's impossible to get significant support to remove them now.

So she looks at the Democrats as right wingers because they are so reluctant to support similar policies, but the vast majority of the party would gladly pass those policies, or worse, if they had unlimited political capital. But they don't and people like Pelosi and Obama are smart enough to realize that. AOC is too dumb and idealistic to know or care.

I think it's a persuasion tactic. I've heard it called the "Foot in the Door" tactic.
Ask for something you know is too far to accept and then when you tailor back to "what you wanted in the first place" it sounds agreeable and not extreme.

Any Rand pointed to it when she said:

"The uncontested absurdities of today are the accepted slogans of tomorrow. They come to be accepted by degrees, by precedent, by implication, by erosion, by default, by dint of constant pressure on one side and constant retreat on the other, until the day when they are suddenly declared to be the country's official ideology"

Actually she is right.

It’s Obamacare (Based off Romneycare) or Medicare for all. Pelosi and the House Dems won’t even let them have a vote on it?
