Anyone Else Sick Of Hearing Career Politicians Drone On & On About “Public Service”?

They act like it’s a great big sacrifice they have done, like they’ve taken a vow of poverty or something.
None of our politicians are servants by any stretch of the imagination. So stop mentioning your “public service” and implying how great you are by doing such “service.”
You’re doing it for power, influence, notoriety. You’re getting paid and you’re getting kickbacks. You’re going on vacations and trips. You’re raising money for yourself.
Stop with the public service bull shite.

Have an upvote. This notion they’re selfless is agonizing to hear.

If it was truly public service they would all be unpaid posts and barred from taking lobyist and special interest money. Then we'd really see how much they like "public service."

Oh, they are "servicing" the public alright!

They are all in it for self enrichment and don’t even try to hide it anymore. The Clintons made hundreds of millions being politicians. I hope no one really buys that they are doing some self-sacrificial public service

I have zero respect for career politicians who have never spent a day in the private sector. Let's not pretend these "public servants" are out for anyone but themselves.
After getting elected, their first order of business is set about entrenching themselves. Second order of business is enriching themselves.

They also say they could have made way more in the public sector.
Truth is most of them would have trouble finding a decent job in the public sector.
Example: Bernie Sanders never had a full time job until he was in his forties.

big sacrifice
At one time, it actually was... that was also the time you could justify the long periods of recess during the year...
In other words, it hasn't been public service since horses were the primary means of transportation in this country...

It's true! Most of these "public servants" who reach the Swamp big leagues are making a shite load more money as politicians than private sector employees.

Well, they could say they are a public servant if they refuse to take a salary. But I can't think of any who would do that except Donald Trump.

It's certainly long past time to completely remove the ruling class and start over.

You mean how "broke" people like the Clintons are now worth a half-billion dollars? That kind of public service and sacrifice?
Posted on 12/7/18 at 1:56 pm to LuckyTiger
Is a way of them trying to gaslight folks into thinking they are “sacrificing” something for the good of the people.

What a nice way of saying "selling influence."

99% of those useless fricks inside the beltway, politicians and bureaucrats alike, have never given up so much as a summer vacation for this country. Service my arse
Posted on 12/7/18 at 4:19 pm to BigJim
You’re missing the point Debbie. We need to term limit these frickers. They honestly believe they are better than average citizens and thrive on the corruption of the good ole boy power structure.
