Interesting article about how flu vaccines seem to weaken our immune response to other viruses. While the article doesn't mention Covid19 vaccine studies the implications are there. This has been the concern of American Frontline Doctors.

I watched a video the other day and it explained the COVID vaccine like this... It basically programs your body to look for and fight COVID-19, and the immune system kind of becomes preoccupied with COVID and not as capable as it pertains to other viruses.
No idea if there’s any truth to it, just some video I watched.
I am not anti-vax. I always get the flu shot and got the 2 Moderna COVID shots.

Didn’t read.
It does correlate with high rates of infection in nursing homes, prisons and, anecdotally, missionaries. All those groups have very high rates of flu shot utilization - approaching 100%.

Obviously, this is intriguing, but would need a little more analysis - how to control for other factors. What if the cohort who receive flu shots are also those at risk of death/serious complications from COVID?
Correlation doesn't necessarily equate to causation, but certainly deserves exploration. Obviously, giving folks better information about their risk profile should be the goal.

The article says you should get infection with rhinovirus as it protects against COVID and that’s why you shouldn’t get the flu shot.

There’s a Navy study out from a decade ago that showed higher rates of coronaviruses with a flu shot. It wasn’t a primary endpoint of the study or anything. But seems interesting.

The first paper they reference is an investigation into the effect of rhinovirus on covid infection with the knowledge that rhinovirus has a negative interaction with influenza. They found it has the same negative interaction with covid.
But then the article segues into flu vaccines and an entirely unrelated avenue of reasoning where a researcher found a positive correlation between IVR and covid deaths. It still doesn't go so far as to say the flu shot was a factor in the deaths though.

What? Rhinovirus, Influenza, and Coronavirus are all RNA viruses but they belong to different virus families.

I want to say that there is evidence that a rhinovirus epidemic helped slow down Swine Flu in 2009.
That’s the “viral interference” phenomenon comes into play.
