probably born out of my mothers fear of guns (from her abusive father), and having grown up in a home with out them. i just never saw that the benefit outweighed the risk.i assumed the premise if the op was an anticipation of jungle law/societal breakdown, so my mind was already there. if people are changing their 2A views, i wouldnt think it would be for rec/range shooting (which i have done more than occasionally , but don’t enjoy the activity as much as the company)

I have a tactically positioned firearm in every room of my house. I also have fortified positions to cover both entrances to my property.

Not all gun owners are responsible. Some buy cheap weapons and don't really take care of them or lock them up. These get stolen by a relative or visitor, whatever, even a cheap weapon, trumps no weapon.
Also lately, it's getting common for gangs to burglarize gun stores. Happened to my friend last year at his store, they got a lot of guns, he had security cameras, alarm system everything, but the cops didn't show up until they had already gotten away.

If she had a gun when she was being abused, she wouldn’t have been abused again

Society is a thin veil that hides the animal within all of us. “If” society ever did break down, there is no more “us”. It’s me vs you. In that situation I absolutely want to be armed because well. It’s a dog eat dog world.

Your choice, your decision.

When the rioting, looting, robbery and home invasions eventually start, I'm sure your fists, kitchen knives and golf clubs will be adequate to defend
your family.

my point was those hypothetical armed men in my home got the guns somewhere, likely from stealing them. how is my food, hand sanitizer or toilet paper any safer because of a gun? it obviously didnt protect the gun from being stolen, any more than the gun i go out and purchase tomorrow would keep my stuff safer.

i agree, which is why i posed the questions.
I am in no more danger than I was two weeks, two months or two years ago with my worldview. i didnt own a gun at any of those points, why change that now?

A gun would be your best course of defending yourself from said armed men. What other item in such a case would you say would work better?

Again, a gun is the best weapon to defend yourself with. Bar none. There is no other weapon that gives you the equalizing power that a firearm gives you.

There simply isn’t one.

As to those armed men most likely got them from stealing... nope. Idk if you have just this rosy picture of what man is or if you just fail to grasp that we are no better than the wild animals.

Even deep down inside of you is the ability to walk up to another human being and kill them for a scrap of food.
