I figured that was the case, but I still find it hard to believe that one needs to believe in God to value human life at any stage of development.

True to an extent. But, if you polled atheists on the matter of abortion you would get results that look far different from the results you would get from polling Christians.

Correct.

And it was a political victory for the GOP because it sets a moral line on the sand for those on the left by which to be judged by the middle - the only 20% that matter in terms of elections.

Instead, the GOP matched the left’s fricking political ineptness in Alabama and Missouri with these pointless, asinine laws. These laws are utterly and totally meaningless under current Constitutional stances.

But NO - we had to counter with === "HOLD MY BEER!!" = and completely hand the frigging election over to the DEMOCRATs - just when we were on the verge of routing their asses out altogether.

This is spot on. Alabama has single-hadedly made Trump's reelection far more difficult. He will have to thread the needle every single time the topic of abortion comes up.

Even more embarrassing, we have people doing touchdown celebrations in the end zone completely unaware that they fumbled at midfield.

also, it does't make any logical sense, either. so DEMs pass insane bills in certain states. is Alabama getting abortion revenge or something by passing a polar opposite, but just as extreme abortion bill? what sense does that make?

Abortion, like Jim Crow and Suffrage, are going to come back to bite Rs big time.

Let these progressive morons abort away. We only have to gain as a country by letting these idiots kill themselves off.

Republicans are literally pushing to raise future Democrats.

Look at Suffrage: R's fought to allow women to vote, now the Dems use women's feelings as a stronghold for that vote.

Jim Crow: R's fought to overturn that, so Dems introduced welfare and now have blacks voting at a 90%+ clip.

This is another long-term ideology that will screw Rs.

Screw Alabama - I've been so pissed about this since the AL rednecks did this I am about to bust a freaking artery.

SFP is absolutely correct = we gave it all away on a freaking 1000-1 STUNT that is bound for failure.

Take some breaths grandpa.

Look I think this is certainly not good for the GOP’s future. Abortion is a losing issue for them no matter how much they whine about muh murder. But this bill isn’t going to be the reason Trump loses if he does. It will be the economic situation deteriorating, war with Iran, or letting the coup plotters all walk that will doom him.

Sorry sfp but you're part of the problem.

Having "conservatives" running around like chicken little saying Alabama is extreme for banning baby murder is counter productive.

Doug Jones is not going to be as easy to beat as people think. Alabama is such an embarrassing state.

You're operating on the perception that abortion is always a winning issue for the democrats when I'm not sure it every was. I think they've only won in the past on abortion because so many GOPers have always cucked out on the issue. But most people in the country are now pro-life.

If democrats weren't whining about abortion they'd be whining about something else. They are always whining and complaining.

As long as the GOP nominee is not Roy Moore, Doug Jones will be filling out applications for lobbying jobs on K street in 2021.

I agree in that I don't think the present SC will overturn Roe vs Wade, unless Ruth G. is finally confirmed dead and quickly replaced. I also feel now is not the time for ultra conservatives to fire up the anti-abortion issue. The libs have already pushed the button to stroke the extremist view, so they are their own worst enemy. The big issue for next election is the border- that is what conservatives need to push!

Why is everyone making such a big deal about Alabama’s abortion law when other states like Florida and Georgia are passing similar bills ? I don’t think defending innocent babies is a losing battle. Not when the other side says we need more citizens so they want open boarders but kill innocent babies . The same group that wants to kill innocent babies does want the death penalty for murders .

this is a call back to the pre-Trump, Bush-era GOP led by religious and insane people.
It's amusing to see "conservatives" lash out at other conservatives in the manner of leftists. They are not "insane", they see an opportunity to challenge a law they feel certain is unjust.

Cowering in one's positions because of the next election is a loser. That is why we don't have 26 billion for the border wall. Republicans were fearful of pushing it and wanted wait until after. Now we have a trickle in funding for the wall. Cowardice.

You know, SlowFlowPro:

I kind of get your reasoning in this post, but at WHAT POINT do civilized human beings make a stand?

Who will stand up for the unborn?

When will someone stand up for the unborn?

If you are a god fearing person (full disclosure: I am, albiet multiple ones: ganesha, krishana, Lakskhmi , et al ), don't we owe the almighty to stand up for what is right and deal with the consequences that may occur?
