The Reagan-appointed judge decried Trump’s “great threat to Americans’ freedom of speech.”

A federal judge ruled Tuesday that the Trump administration’s effort to deport pro-Palestinian academics is a deliberate attack on free speech meant to “strike fear” into non-citizen students and chill campus protests.
“The effect of these targeted deportation proceedings continues unconstitutionally to chill freedom of speech to this day,” U.S. District Judge William Young concluded, in a scathing, 161-page opinion that he described as the most crucial he’s delivered in his 30 years on the bench.

The judge can bring them back after they are deported.

He does not have the authority. They are here illegally and they can chill in their home countries.
They dont have any right to be here raising hell and he knows it.

I mean… are they doing anything more than talking?
Maybe I need to read the whole piece to see what part to be outraged about, because what you clipped out doesn’t make the ruling seem like a crazy ruling. But I’m not giving politico the click.

It does not matter what they are doing. If they are here illegally he hasn't got a leg to stand on.
They have NO RIGHT to be here.
They have NO RIGHT to be here.

It doesn't matter. The president is in control of these things. Executive Discretion.

Which part of the article says they are here illegally?

If you engage in wrongthink on certain subjects, this administration wants you gone.

It probably doesn't... they are on one kind of visa or another that can be yanked at the discretion of the executive.

Cant deport a citizen. Now if theyre here on a Green Card or some sort of Visa that too can legally be revoked as Marco Rubio has stated. You do not have a RIGHT to be here it is a privilege.

What’s to be outraged about? If they are here legally doesn’t it make sense they shouldn’t be deported for speaking their opinions? I know non-citizens can be deported for all kinds of reasons but don’t we as a country agree with free speech?

All you need to know...
quote:
In August, two members of the Supreme Court — Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh — rebuked Young for blocking the Trump administration’s decisions to cut off medical research grants it deemed related to diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives. The two Trump appointees said recent rulings on other grant-related cases on the high court’s emergency docket made clear Young’s ruling was impermissible.
“When this Court issues a decision, it constitutes a precedent that commands respect in lower courts,” Gorsuch wrote, joined by Kavanaugh.
Young later apologized, saying it wasn’t his intention to defy the Supreme Court, and he was simply unaware that the justices considered their emergency-docket rulings to be precedents lower courts are bound to follow.

See if you can spot the problem...
quote:
“The President’s palpable misunderstanding that the government simply cannot seek retribution for speech he disdains poses a great threat to Americans’ freedom of speech,” Young wrote, describing the courts as the most crucial bulwark to this threat.

Reagan absolutely fricked this country with illegals. Not a surprise

I remember when it was only Christians and conservatives facing these government views.
Oh well.
