No, from what you paid in 2017. There was always going to be a jump as EHBs kicked in, and likely more as the markets stabilized. Next year was going to be a very stable year compared to 2017, then Republicans happened.
so you're already setting this baseilne as a dishonest number, when it should be $150/mo
even though you're attempting to use propaganda, it won't work b/c you're missing the piont of this thread. this isn't a "one off". i've been making a version of this thread almost every year since 2013. i posted the last 2 in OP. that initial increase matters. a ton
hell even if the ACA "stabilized", any increase would be exponential after that initial rate shock
quote:
Do you think the denominator of people who would be helping you to pay it is smaller as all US taxpayers, or Louisiana residents on the individual health exchange market?
that's literally irrelevant
this thread is about me, a person who has by most measures overcome adversity and low SES to make something of himself...the story you want people to follow, being punished (by having more of my property taken from me).the truly irrational part of that punishment is that it's largely mandated by this law/policy to subsidize the healthcare costs of people who didn't work nearly as hard as i did and made multitudes more sub-optimal choices
what is rational about this system?
what is rational about making me pay almost a mortgage payment per month for health insurance that i can use? you know what that does? it means that i can't invest in my future by paying an ACTUAL mortgage. again, punished
quote:
The structure is to provide health insurance to the largest number of people at the lowest cost in total,
by redistributing wealth according to the policy valuations made. those valuations are based in punishing people of my age/economic status to subsidize others (older people, people who chose not to buy health insurance previously but still enjoy health care, and a small population of people with PECs who weren't on an employer plan)
you can try to lie all that you want, and it's still a lie
i'll put it another way. if there were no cost subsidies and no medicaid expansion, would i be paying more or less than i am now (in taxes and premium increases)?

progressives are allowed to have failed policies - this is clearly one.
when you argue in favor of something that is such an abomination it makes the entire movement look foolish

I'm in similar position. Plan is up "only" 18% this year.
No PPO/POS plans available, only HMO. I'm in Cobb County GA
My wife's doctor not in HMO. My kids pediatrician not in HMO.
Costs have more than doubled since 2013 for me.
Burn it down and start over

My Company's plan was set to go up 65% next year (United). It was a pretty strong plan that I was confident they under-priced when they presented it to us, so I wasn't surprised. Going to BCBS next year, around 20% increase I believe, but there is some dropoffs in coverage.

quote:So it is cheaper in total? So for every SFP that is taking it straight up the arse, there are many paying less?
The structure is to provide health insurance to the largest number of people at the lowest cost in total
So if SFP did nothing wrong to be punished, what did these lucky folks do right to get to enjoy the fruits of SFP's success.

Anyone that supports this bullshite is a lunatic.

Actually, no. I did a LOT more than bitch about it on here. I attended countless rallies, two marches in Washington, contacted my member of Congress, and other members of Congress. I also gave a LOT of $$$ over the course of 10 years or so fighting for it. You can do the same if you really want to change this. Or you can do nothing and wait until next year and post this thread again.

unless you did something to sway Anthony Kennedy, you didn't actually do anything for national recognition of SSM

meh, the Supreme Court needed to see a groundswell of support along with multiple states recognizing it, which they did. Without that, I don't think they would have ever legalized that. Anyone that was connected to this movement will tell you the same. A lot of the momentum goes back to NY state legalizing in the 2011. This provided the impetus for Maryland, Maine, Washington, and Rhode Island. The rest is history.

if this is true, then you're just arguing that the decision they made was thew wrong one, legally
yo do realize that, right?
you're arguing they ruled for the more popular and not the legally correct, decision
