Because I don't share the idiotic belief that 'America is just an idea'. She was born in SC. Her people weren't there in 1860 to be sure. She has as much right an opinion on that conflict as I have about jalikattu or tearing out hearts and shite to Kali in the Temple of Doom.

The flag wasn’t even put on the capitol building until the early 1960’s so I don’t think any of the remaining white flag waving traitors were even around then. And I would say that the governor of a state where she lived her whole life has a pretty good say on what goes on in the state.
