I’ll try to shift this back to a political discussion. Even with him “clearing up” the details of his sexual orientation any one of the following would destroy most high level political careers.
He either cheated on his wife or they have an agreement.
He was caught with a prostitute.
The prostitute was opposite sex of his partner.
He was caught in a hotel room with illegal narcotics.
It was reported the room was full of bodily fluids including feces and pictures made public back that up.
Also reported he was found passed out naked and public pictures back that up.
A black politician caught doing gay stuff, especially with a white dude, is not something a significant percentage of a black constituency will overlook. And they tend to be quite tolerant otherwise.
He’s done.

My Uncle is gay. The last 10 years or so, he hasn't been afraid to talk about it, especially since my grandmother passed away. It's uncanny the straight,and/or married men that hit my uncle up. He's shown me the messages so I know he's not lying. He has fricked a man before while the man is fricking his wife. He told me one guy hits him up and they suck each other off all the time.
