What does this mean? Americans with American passports? Americans with American and Israeli passports? Israelis with American passports? Israelis with Israeli and American passports?

I'm very much an Isolationist and don't think we should be running around getting into wars. That being said ...

Lots of heads were actually cut off.

Iraq absolutely had WMDs.

Just because we should NOT have gotten involved in Iraq (or if we did, we should have leveled the place and then left) doesn't mean there were no WMDs.

Just because WMDs were used as justification to do something we shouldn't have doesn't mean there were no WMDs.

This is how information operations and propaganda work. Twist issues up into such complex balls that people can't really process/understand so they'll reduce/simplify them into digestible bites that are often wrong (but are the wrong you want them to be).

This works in both directions.

Where? Where were they?

The United States of America invaded a country, it claimed had weapons of mass destruction. The entire war was based upon this and if so much as one fricking molecule of mustard gas was found, by all means link the report.

Or are you one of those people, who like Sean Hannity falsely believed it was all shipped off to Syria? That was the drum he pounded at the time and he got alot of other idiots (including myself) to do the same.

The United States of America invaded Iraq for no good fricking reason at all.

"This dude" is a bit of an anomaly in that for most of his adult life he's made a living off of war/conflict, yet doesn't agree with many of the wars/conflicts we get involved in.

It's human nature to want to do the thing you do best. Many of my friends/coworkers are like that - they want to go do their job, the thing they've trained for forever, so any war is a good war. I don't agree, but I can't blame them. They're not bad people; they're normal.

I'm a little different in that I would rather be the best at what I do, but just hang out in my garden unless it's absolutely necessary for me to do it.

I like to think my principles and judgment are stronger than my desire to fulfill my purpose.

This changes the calculus. My position on this was that we have issues at home, and that Israel and Hamas can settle this on their own. With Americans involved you have to go get them. The problem is that, to my understanding, the HUMINT capabilities of the CIA have dwindled considerably. It's going to be very difficult to find these Americans without people on the ground, that know people, that know other people, that can lead you to them. You can't do this with satellite imagery and SIGINT.

Why?

This isn't the America of 25 years ago. There's no solidarity in this country any longer. Americans are reviled in many places in the world and those too naive to see that aren't worth going to war over.

The same Americans that were killed or kidnapped at this Music Festival are the exact same people who side with the so called plight of the Palestinian. If the hostages are in some way bailed out. They'll come home and side with the savages that took them.

Americans don't belong there and it's time we stay away from regions and countries that hate us.

There are lessons to be learned here but not by me. I know better than to tickle the belly of the enemy.

Before you get all wound up and take the tone you're taking, perhaps read the very next 2 sentences after the one you bolded.

I did. That's why I quoted the entire text.

Being an American is no longer a requisite to be saved by America. It used to be but not any longer.

Even if we had the capability to save them, who are they that we should risk American involvement and escalation? At the very least, they went there passively supporting and sympathizing with the very people who murdered them.

I don't think that's the plan here. They have them scattered through Gaza to try to deter Israel from attacking at large.

Dad was career Air Force. GrandDad was an officer during WW2 at Iwo and Guadal Canal, Marine Corps .....Both had the same philosophy.

Politicians, got us into this mess .....now get out of the way and let us fix things the right way. Only a dead enemy is a good enemy .....

I’m sure all the Americans that wanted to get out of Israel got out. Wasn’t that what they were saying while they were screwing the pooch in Afghanistan?

Yes, there were WMDs. No, we shouldn't have invaded Iraq (something I've said several times).

Both things are true. The second is not dependent on the first. There are/were many other things at play. Reducing it to the presence/lack of WMDs makes it easy, but not accurate.

Yes and no. It depends on what "saving" entails. We absolutely should work to get them back. How we go about doing that and at what cost, is certainly debatable (and should be hotly debated).

Yes, I saw that and really wished I had not. If I had access to the weapons Netanyahu has, there would be no constraint whatsoever after seeing what I saw.

It is easy to understand. If you want less war you must make war extremely horrible. Unfortunately, with that strategy, it is very hard to grow the Military Industrial Complex.

All of the above. The US Ambassador to Israel just confirmed. A number of non-Jewish Americans were kidnapped including a small Christian group.

At this point just consider them as deceased and mow down every Palestinian that is still breathing.
