South Carolina republicans elect a neocon big government gay guy.
Maine democrats elect a nazi womanizer.
How does this align with either party. Other than go team.

The most glaring and obvious downside of democracy has always been the people.
A democracy, and by extension a republic, is only as strong as the education of its voters.

Alexis D’Toqueville (sp, auto correct is wearing me out) said in his Democracy in America that this would happen. I think it was written not long after the War of 1812.

It should be required reading in high school civics.

Pretty sure the Founders saw this would happen, that a 2 party system would result in one side demonizing the other to extreme, cartoonish levels and basically erode all trust in government.
And here we are.

It is sad.
But then, our educational system and those two Marxist teacher unions have deliberately dumbed down our populace over the past 2 generations.

I frigging wish trust in government was eroded. People want more government than ever. Only way things could improve through voting is if tens of millions of people were stripped of their voting privileges. Poll tests, means tests, and if you get government contracts or are a government employee, you don't get to vote.
But, we all know that will never happen, so a lot more shite is going to have to hit the fan before a real change to a limited government happens.

The problem is, everyone here thinks we have some sort of control over things. We don’t and we never will. Just live your life.

What makes it so dumb is that Congress currently has about a 10% approval rating. Yet, smooth brained morons keep re-electing the same people. I just can't wrap my brain around it.

This is growing ever more obvious. But America could be and should be better than this. There should be a way to fix this broken system. I fear total collapse is the only way out.

One thing you can guarantee with the Dems. Despite being the dumbest people on the planet, they ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS stick together no matter what.

I disagree, it’s only as strong as the integrity and security of its elections.

We've got an open primary.
We're going to change that.
In the meantime, Lindsey gets all the Bluedog Dem votes in the crossover. Plus Lindsey has a massive war chest.
And, tbh, he gets a lot of GOP votes because he's been around a long time and .... he took care of his sister when he was a jid after his parents died.
Mark Lynch got a lot of votes today. Lindsey has officially been warned.

As bad as Lindsay is, that crazy bitch he’s running against that won tonight makes me want to crawl through broken glass to vote for him. The Democrats picked some crazy mf’ers tonight in SC.

Ha. Unlike this forum where there is a lot of independent thinking? The Republican Party agenda is now “we support whatever whim Trump has when he wakes up in the morning “
