and did very well for themselves after leaving behind the crime and poverty of Calabria in southern Italy. They then fought in WW2 in the European theatre, became a firefighter, lawyer and baker/inventor. None of that happens without America. Another family member by way of marriage escaped the Soviet Union (Croatia specifically) in the 1950s and after a few years came to America. He became a small business owner and farmer. Who knows how many attempted to do what he did and were not successful and died because of it. This place is special and people around the world know it. As far as natural born citizens sucking arse… yeah, we do in many cases. It’s embarrassing and an insult to the millions that have legally come here and sacrificed to ultimately give them a better life.
Sorry for insulting your European decent immigrant family.
I know having European ancestry in America is extremely rare. I’m sorry you had to go through your mental anguish today lad.
I swear everyone has to have a story.

Was this the same for your wife? Did she also come here after completing her undergrad in the country? (same country?) Did either of you have credit in that country?
Yes. Parents typically have no problem cosigning loans in our culture, especially for higher education.

Did you know you both were going to get GA when you left?
When you are getting a Master's or a PhD in Engineering, it is very common to expect that you will get a GA at some point working under an advisor.

Did the bank expect to give you more loans?
Yep, I could have drawn more from the credit line if I had to, but thankfully I didn't have to.

check the demographics from the annual LSU engineering graduation and explain the lack of white males. in masters and doctoral programs.
My advisor had 4 Indians, 2 Taiwanese, 3 Korean and 2 Americans (white) under him. Maybe that split has gotten more skewed towards foreign students in recent times? I'm not sure.

I would note, well off parents have no problem co-signing loans in any culture.

I would say it's extremely common for PhDs, Masters, it depends on the university.
You answered all my questions and I thank you for that.
I will note that it is harder for most Americans to get masters degrees prior to working.
Just like for example in India, it is mostly the upper middle class families that send their children to Universities, in the US there are similar gaps to grad studies.
Many US universities are heavily foreign graduate students due to the wealth they bring in.
Money leads to money, it's kind of how it works.

Basically everything a faction of the MAGA movement hates right now.
But let me give you some background first and then we can get into the questions:
- Came to the US in 23+ years ago on a student visa and met my wife grad school, who was also on a student visa
- We both got dual graduate degrees in engineering while we were here
- We were on a H1B visa for 16 agonizing years before we got our green cards and on our way to becoming naturalized citizens soon (25 years after we first came to this country legally)
- We both work for the Mag 7 and now make $750K+ per year combined (mainly driven by living in a HCOL area + RSU stock appreciation) but early in our careers also started with relatively big base salaries since we were working for big tech ($300K+ combined), so would like to think we didn't displace any entry level American workers at a Edison HQ or a Disney IT department
- We own 3 homes, and rent out two of them and have two US born children in middle school and our kids do piano, chess, robotics, basketball and swimming which is par for the course among other immigrant families, which got Vivek in a bit of a trouble on Twitter yesterday for saying out aloud
Now AMA. I may even answer Laura Loomer or Josiah Lippincott type questions.

Right. It appears I misunderstood you.

This country?
Don’t you mean “our” country?
BTW, you never answered my question on page 1.

American Youths? YES.

How did you accomplish so much with America being so racist?

I did discover why Asians/Indians did well while college. While trying to get in a professional medical program I started hanging around the library most nights. I saw the same Asian bunch there every night. It occurred to me that their idea of socialization was hanging out and studying every night while most of the local students hung out drinking, smoking pot and playing video games. I saw why they got ahead.

Does it frustrate you seeing the red carpet being laid out in front of the invaders by the Dems/RINOs?
In one of my earlier posts, I talked about how there was a shift towards the Republicans among the immigrant community. I vividly remember the moment when the illegal border crossing crisis became a turning point for me: I was watching a video on Twitter that was shared by RFK, Elon, or Vivek (I can't remember who), where I saw a Sikh family illegally crossing the border somewhere along the Mexican border and being encountered by Border Patrol while seeking asylum. From my multiple trips to Canada and interactions with many Sikhs at gas stations, I know there is no crisis in India that would justify someone from there seeking political asylum. At that moment, I just knew the border needed to be shut down and that we needed a wall, just as Trump had said during his first term. It was a crossing the Rubicon moment for me.
tl; dr - we need to shut down the southern border and build a wall like yesterday.
