All of this. Iran was 100% unforced error that every American is currently paying for at the pump. Trump needs to figure out how to pull off a “victory” there.
It is clear to me that the Israelis killed (either purposely or accidentally) the potential leaders inside Iran who could replace the current regime. The current regime has no viable challengers within Iran and no motivation to agree to a deal in good faith.
The only option looks like an expensive, unpopular, and costly ground invasion. The status quo isn’t working, and retreat won’t return us to the status quo at the start of the year. Unless something happened behind the scenes with China and Pakistan, no deal appears incoming. The only way to have won this war was not to have instigated it in the first place.
You don’t half arse war and expect to achieve strategic victories. You either avoid war entirely or you go all-in with overwhelming fury, logistical support, and unbending political will. If you don’t have that, you don’t start one.
That doesn’t mean that I am about to vote for a democrat. But, I can see why the war would encourage people who supported Trump in 2024 to stay home in the midterms instead of showing up for Congress and Senate elections. I still see the GOP doing fairly well regardless, but Trump could have delivered a straight up bloodbath.

That's not what this is. At all. If Iran got a nuke, which they were so sure they were going to do they lead with it in the negotiations that they were about to have 11 of them, they would use them. Had we not hit them, Israel would have in all likely hood preemitively nuked them to dust. And we could do zero about that. Nobody could. And once nukes start flying, they're probably all about to start flying.
That's a fact.
So don't act like this is Iraq just because they used that excuse last time. This time they actually had it and it doesn't matter how anyone 'feels' about it. We either stopped them breaking out, NOW, or we deal with the consequences of a nuclear war.
Real simple.

2026 GOP:
Boomers are 2/3s ride or die MAGA
Gen X is 50/50 MAGA/GOPe vs AF
Millennials are inverse to the boomers
Gen Z is basically entirely AF/campaign era MAGA
Vance is AF, Rubio is new MAGA and that will be the fight for the nomination in 2028.
If Charlie Kirk was still alive it’s a lock that Vance would win because he’d have the millennial / Gen Z vote, but I think it’s likely that Rubio gets the backing of Trump as he leaves office and that it’ll be a very close battle for who is the candidate in 2028.
After 2028 as Trump fades there’s zero question that the party will shift AF or basically die off nationally as the younger voters have zero interest in the GOPe and are massively upset with the post election shift from MAGA.
The GOP can’t win without the millennial/Gen Z vote and the boomer demographic will be declining statistically so IMO whoever fills the void Charlie Kirk and the first iteration of TPUSA left when he died will be the new head of the GOP from ~2030 forward.
