Well, for some reason I thought Abbot wasn't running? My bad , if so Uno. I wouldn't think West would challenge Abbot, as Abbot has done a good job.

I will never understand "conservatives" like you who praise these celebrities.
50 cent would cheerfully piss on the Texas flag. He is here to take advantage of the tax situation and thats it. The irony is he will vote to make it socialist like every other brain dead democrat. Where will he flee to next?

You are correct that Texas is one of 14 states with no gubernatorial term limits, however I’ve never heard of the unwritten rule you mentioned. I think it’s more an issue that several govs of late have held or sought a federal office (e.g., Perry, W Bush, Clements, Connally) after two terms.
ETA: And yes, Abbott is definitely running again.
