I don't believe this is right.

The Bushes and Karl Rove didn't want Cruz to run; they urged him to 'wait his turn'. As a matter of fact W has said publicly he doesn't like him.

Can’t wait to watch this grifter finally get the comeuppance he deserves courtesy of a very comfortable loss to Governor Greg Abbott.

West built his “campaign” using Texas GOP party resources, finances and announced the campaign on the 4th of July in a church. If I was a member of the Texas GOP, I would be beyond pissed at West’s deception and grift.

Donald Trump made a very wise decision in endorsing Governor Greg Abbott for reelection.

Agreed. He's all Allen West / All-the-Time. He alienated everyone in Texas GOP grass roots, did a horrible job supporting GOP candidates against Dems, and did nothing to get out the vote for GOP candidates. His stint as Texas GOP Chairman was for one purpose and one purpose only: pad his resume.

Genuinely curious: How has he been deceptive and/or a grifter? I’m interested in reading your opinion.

Arizona GOP as well has not too dissimilar problems with its party chair in Kelli Ward albeit with different circumstances.

Party chair used to be a place where we could dump problem actors where they could do no harm but lately, they’ve been a bit too self serving to the point where they hinder conservatives electoral prospects.

Correct.

Allen West going to learn very soon how important it is to be a team player and what kind of consequences come to those who refuse to be a team player.

Florida rejected him when he pulled similar antics and Texas is going to do the same. Hopefully for his own good, he gets and understands the hint this time.

One could say the same about Abotts terms as governor. Just padding his resume for 2024 run.

Way over them. But Abbot's abject political hackery has invited it.

I used to like him alot before he moved to Texas but the move seems totally calculated and he seems to be playing a part, reading a script for his own self-promotion.

5 people you should never trust.

1. A Democrat

2. An establishment Republican

3. Someone who feels it's "their turn"

4. Someone running for or holding office in multiple states.

5. A Pundit claiming to be unbiased.

Edit: I didn't expect the Spanish Inquisition.

They had friends host fundraisers in DC for him well before the primary when he had no money.

He was a staffer for W's admin.

He well knew that Jeb! was going to run and ran for pres knowing this.

If you haven't figured out that politics is a dog eat dog world by now, then you aren't the sharpest knife in the drawer

I was really hoping he was going to run against Cornyn. He needs to go.

His attempt to run for office at the state level would be more believable if he had run for one of the two recently open Senate seats in Georgia (where he is from) or was running for Governor there in the next election. GA is about to turn blue and could use his help but buying a cowboy hat from central casting and trying to fool some people for your own self-promotion is disingenuous.

Gawd he is the poster child for being a cuck. To bad he just got reelected. He'll retire probably so will be interesting to see who will go after his seat next go around.

I would not bet against him. He has been laying the groundwork for quite a while. He has about a 1000x better chance than Huffines. McCaunahey or however you spell it makes me nervous. Too many people would be willing to vote for a name and fame. I am not sure he wants to work that hard though.

Really? You don't live here. You don't go to local GOP meetings or events. You don't belong to any GOP committees. I was a GOP alternate delegate to the state convention. I attend my local events, county events and work to support conservative candidates with my time and money in counties outside my own. I'll make a wager with you if you're a betting man, but it's fair to warn you ahead of time that you don't have your finger on the pulse of Texas.

I can tell you from the many friends and political associates I have that while there is a fair amount of dissatisfaction with Abbott's performance, there is a far less divisive stance on Abbott than there is about West. West alienated everybody. He was fair about it, though . Everybody was fair game for him. Abbott at least tries to build consensus and bridges between state GOP politics and the local and county GOP grass roots initiatives. As far as West was concerned, all those grass roots, boots on the ground organizations were just too much of a bother for him to deal with. As far as West was concerned, they all needed to follow his lead or get the hell out of his way and shut up.

He is not going to win Texas. There is too much acrimony he created to get the support where it counts. Abbott will sweep him and hopefully, West will end up a completely marginalized conservative book seller making the rounds in talk radio and cheap podcasts like Sebastian Gorka, a hanger-on-er, coat-tailing, dick rider if ever there was one.
