They certainly didnt help but a similar candidate could have weathered those accusations and emerged even more beloved had they not had they baggage and overall unsavory disposition as does Moore. Don't forget, Roy Moore has a long history of being a raging douchebag and pissing off people of all political stripes with his arrogance and one sided world view. Republicans were looking for a reason not to vote for him.

It's why me and many others voted against him.

The only value in this is that the sanctimonious, useful idiot Republicans - and those who might consider doing the same to Trump - who voted Write In or didn't vote...can now see what the fruit of their irresponsibility is. The very Principles (Religion/Morality/National Sovereignty) which they purport to serve, will take a beating as Trump's job just got harder.

Of course, they can feel better about themselves...as the Nation moves closer to dysfunction and Authoritarian Governance.

Live and learn.

Which in turn is why he lost. Culling "weak" or "morally flawed" members of society like gays is a losing bet for Republicans in this day and age. Its blatant tribalism and modern politics has no patience for it.

Again, how is that "melting"?

How is half the shite that anyone with dissenting views says on here “melting”? Do you know how many times any sort of reasonable comment is met with “HAHA MELT” and you have the audacity, but more likely ignorance, to try and say it’s a new LEFT talking point??? Hahahahahaha

libs dancing up and down like they just won the Super Bow

Because the arrogance did not carry over to this. And trump had to eat a little shite. So libs are smiling. They could have rolled out anybody else and would have won. But they stuck with a guy with a huge cloud of a shitstorm over his head.

There was an interview making the rounds. Looked like your typical big ole middle aged to upper middle aged Bama Baw. He said (paraphrasing) “I’m sick of it and ready for today to be over. Alabama looks like....... it always looks. I’m disgusted. I may just write in somebody. I’m not sure. I may stay home!”

I think he represented a lot of Alabama people. Just leave them alone. Can they put up a candidate who is not a joke. Or alleged child rapist.

Republicans need to focus on issues that are important to working Americans, and stay away from identity politics...they'll never win that battle.

Certainly in areas with high levels of the disenfranchised, poor whites, etc it will get more traction than others but I think the results last night speak for themselves and the rejection of finding a “community” via mutual hatred of another.

They need to moderate. Don’t tell me about Jesus or abortion. Tell me taxes and insurance premiums will go down or at least stay the same for a year. Don’t be a cartoon.

Voting based on allegations is foolish.

what?

no

last night is about the allegations of sexual misconduct and NOTHING more. you think Moore loses if those allegations don't come out and he keeps up his views on gays? of course not. so his insane views about gay people are literally irrelevant

Remember that time we celebrated Trump’s victory knowing full well any other Dem outside of Hillary would have won?

Eh, Moore was not well liked in Alabama anyway and yes some of his more colorful views were a factor in that. He only won Chief Justice 52-48 in 2012, deeply undeperforming Romney's numbers.

I think if he doesn't have those views on gays and non-Christians and isn't a self-serving judicial tyrant then he weathers those charges no problem. Maybe even emerges with his base more coalesced.
