IIRC, you had to get both endings to get the full context of Ocelot’s phone call.

There were slight differences in what he said in each version, including addressing the other person as “Solidus” or “Mr President” depending on the ending.

No. If Meryl dies and Snake leaves on the snowmobile with Hal, you get the partial call. If Meryl survives you get the full phone call.

Both times, Ocelot ends the call with "Mr. President".

This is the order I played them in:

MGS4
MGS:PW
MGS:PO
MGS3
MGS2
MGS1 (didnt finish because my ps3’s hard drive crashed)
MGS5

Meryl is in policenauts but I think this is her first appearance and is a different Meryl. The Meryl in MGS is more of a homage to this Meryl rather than the same person. The two main characters are modeled after Riggs and Murtaugh from Lethal weapons. Policenauts actually has a more relevant story today cause it’s about the power and control big pharma has on people. Don’t want to spoil it too much. It is a really good game.

We don’t talk about Metal Gear Survive.

Metal Gear Rising - Revengeance is another matter.

“I hear it's amazing when the famous purple stuffed worm in flap-jaw space with the tuning fork does a raw blink on Hari-Kiri Rock. I need scissors! 61!”

-one of the more batshit sequences in the series

As requested.

Thanks for starting this, I have to refresh myself with the plot but Kojima is onto something, I love the man.

From 2014's MGS 4: GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS

quote:

Guns of the Patriots is set within an alternate history timeline in which the Cold War continued into the 1990s before ending before the turn of the century. The events themselves take place in 2014, five years after Sons of Liberty,[8] and form the final chapter in the storyline covering the character of Solid Snake, providing conclusions to the events that led up to Guns of the Patriots.

The world's economy relies on continuous civil wars fought by PMCs, which outnumber government military forces. Soldiers are equipped with nanomachines that monitor and enhance their performance on the battlefield, controlled by a vast network known as the Sons of the Patriots (SOP) system. Revolver Ocelot, missing since the events of Sons of Liberty, is possessed by the will of Liquid Snake and re-emerges from hiding to launch an insurrection against the Patriots, a secret cabal which manipulates global affairs from the shadows.

Sons of Liberty released when I was in 7th grade. not gonna lie the story flew over my head. The president being a clone who was "elected". Big Shell. mass surveillance. media pushing for wars. inside jobs. privatized mercenaries.

George Sears (Solidus Snake) was forced to resign from office after the Shadow Moses incident. (MGS1) James Johnson was the President during the Tanker and Big Shell incident and was killed by Ocelot.

Why not just pictures of the individual who voiced her AND who she was modeled after? (Dutch Model and Singer Stefanie Joosten)

I know Solidus wasn't the President during that time. The whole point of Presidents being selected by a shadow government and media was just too much for me to understand.

I can say that Kojima is one of the first people to educate me about nuclear deterrence, deep state bureaucracies, mass surveillance, technocracies and mass media psychosis.

Damn now that I’m rethinking it, was Ocelot really the bad guy in 4? Wasn’t he trying to fight against the MIC/War Economy.

Was the colonel AI really bad? He was programmed to fight against the trite and trivial information that has plagued the digital society?

Ocelot was neither a hero nor a villain. He played the part that he needed to play. That's why he and Miller had to be enemies after Phantom Pain.

In fact, the only TRUE villains were Zero and Big Boss. Both were villains who thought they were heroes.

The AIs spiraled out of Zero's control when he was affected by the vocal parasites while Jack (Big Boss) was in a coma after Ground Zeroes. Without his hand to guide them, they acted like machines.
