Yeah, his fallback (which I've seen countless times from non-blacks) when encountering a black person with whom he disagrees is to pretend that said black person is an anecdotal outlier, while his position is based in the totality of settled science. This (in his mind) affords him the latitude to speak on blacks as a whole (to other whites), while covering him in the event any minorities disagree with him.

It's not unique to Hank, of course, it's just a subtle sleight of hand in debate that gets disingenuously utilized time and again.
