Inhalation of pure nitrogen is obviously dangerous and there should be a protocol in place to protect others
But to act as if they can't figure out how to do it safely is silly. Just call up some offshore baw that's done pneumatic testing with nitrogen and they'll figure it out in 30 seconds.

Jury voted 11-1 to recommend life without parole and the judge overrode them and instituted a death sentence. I don’t want any government agent involved in deciding whether I live or die, be it via a socialized medicine healthcare panel or a court officer.

hat is the legality of trying (and failing) to execute someone? Although I'm very much in favor of DP, this is cruel and unusual punishment IMO
That’s what I’m wondering about.

If they tried to kill him and failed, wouldn't that be double jeopordy to try again?

It’s all so confusing. There must be a nurse on staff but I guess s/he couldn’t be forced to execute someone. And I’m wondering how they even got the drugs for the lethal injection. Louisiana hasn’t executed anyone in 12 or so years because they can’t find a supplier for the lethal injections. Several other state are in the same boat.

It’s not a new charge, trial or conviction so I don’t think that would apply here.

Just give him a COVID vaccine shot and call it the day

Just give him some dirt on Hillary.

The problem with guillotines was the expense of construction compared to how little they were used in any small village.
Some guy invented the mobile guillotine delivered to your village by horses. He made a fortune.

Indeed. Bring back firing squads.

He got the death penalty... they are going to kill him.
I honestly fail to see the problem here.

I agree. There is no danger to the staff. Much like giving Nitrous Oxide in the dental chair. The concentration is through the nasal passages. Put a gas mask on the dude hooked up to the hose, turn it on and five minutes later he will be in La-La Land with his feet floating in the air. Probably the best and least painful way to go out.

Though the date was set, they didn't get to try as they could not find a vein (which I think is absolutely ludicrous).
He may have been poked a few times with a needle, but so fricking what? I had an incompetent nurse jab me four times two weeks ago before she finally got the needle in.
People act like these killers should never feel the slightest inconvenience.
Cruel and unusual punishment should be reserved for the intentional infliction of harm and great pain (torture). Hell, I think sitting on death row for dozens of years is torture. DP needs to be administered quickly.

He won't be suffering in the least. He will leave this world in a state of euphoria. That's what nitrogen asphyxiation does. Lots of industrial accidents resulting in death from mishandling nitrogen. They never see it coming.
Why do so many of you make such ignorant statements? Two minutes on Google would show you this is the most peaceful execution method imaginable.

The Constitution prohibits cruel and unusual punishment. The botched execution seems to be just that. So is using an experimental method of carrying out the sentence.
