I absolutely know the definition of non sequitur. It’s something which, literally, does not follow. Like if someone said “how would you even do X?” And someone answers “Well, usually people do X in this fashion.” And the someone says, “Haha, but not all! Gotcha sucker.” And then I shake my head and laugh.

And if they shot him, they would have had some legal issues. Since they didn’t shoot him, no legal issue.

In louisiana you are alowed to protect you property with deadly force. Same in Texas, see the case of John Horn, he shot and killed the two men fleeing from his neighbors house after robbing it, after telling the 911 operator he was going to do it.

He was charged and a grand jury gave a no bill.
The robbers, actual robbers with stolen property on them, also ventured into Horn’s property and were witnessed to have done so by a policeman who arrived on the scene.

So just so everyone is crystal clear I want to verify that you are saying that this video justifies murdering the guy that they did?

You cant use deadly force on someone fleeing. You are missing some important parts of these stories.

Cool story
They only shot him when he rushed Junior...……..so...…..
Remember Michael Drejka from last year? That didn’t help him. Harassed a guys wife then got punched and thrown to the ground by the husband. He shot and killed the unarmed husband and they tried to argue self defense/stand your ground. Guy was sentenced to 20 years for manslaughter.
Granted that was Florida and this is Georgia, but you will probably see something similar play out.

True, unless there are some states that do it very differently. Police can only do so (legally) if they know the person represents an exigent violent threat to the public.
As for this sorry episode, it’s looking more and more like a case of “when assholes collide.”

If you listen to the 911 call you can clearly hear the old guy telling him to drop something?
So now its came out that Arbery went from just an innocent 'jogger' hunted down by some Billy-Bobs to a thief running from getting apprehended.
Now it comes out he had some sort of weapon in hos possession which gives McMicheal justification to have a defensive weapon.
If you watch the video, Arbery clearly charges McMicheal from 20-25 feet out and a struggle ensues between them. Arbery punches McMicheal a couple of times in the struggle.
Not too smart to charge a person with a weapon.
Its clearly a case of self-defense.
McMicheal will at most get a conviction of involuntary manslaughter.

Not too smart to grab the barrel of a gun and pull it in your direction if someone has their finger on the trigger either.

I've gone in to new homes under construction just to look around, see how they're doing things and get ideas. Sure don't think I was doing anything worth getting shot over.

I've viewed the video quite a few times and what I see is the son, after he exited his truck, moved to the front of his truck toward the oncoming path of running man, and at most the running man veered 5 feet toward the son. Those movements on the part of the son easily appeared to me to demonstrate that he actively sought a close up encounter with running man.

You were trespassing though.

Yep, he should have been murdered

I don’t get why you run toward a shot gun.
Distance is your friend especially when facing a shotgun

Well it's clearly not the smartest thing to do, but in that split second in such a tiny space, all things considered, it's just not very easy to speculate accurately what the human instinct would force you to do. It really may be a purely fight or flight consideration.

I guess. The whole situation is so weird to me. I can’t understand any of their actions.

It's one of those real life "series of unfortunate events". Then of course exacerbated by political/emotional implications.
