I’d bet there was never a legit citizens arrested that start with a phone call to your son to get his gun y’all going to chase someone down in your truck.
I’d bet most are someone witnesses an attempted rape or stabbing and they tackle or wrestle them down and subdue them.

Now you have acknowledged that some citizens arrests occur outside of retail which brings us back to the original point being that it's not odd to have a gun while making a citizen's arrest

I remember a would be burglar being thwarted by two home owners in my neighbor when I was in high school. That told him to lie down near ditch until authorities arrived while pointing gun at him.
Had the burglar attacked he would have been shot.
