Because, if I'm armed in that situation, it's likely simply with self defense in mind if it were to come down to it. Basically, deterrent.
Having my gun out and pointing it at someone is way past your self-defense argument.

Does not matter twiddle dee and dumb where stupid for not letting professionals deal with it. Inside your home is one thing, running down the street with a shotgun is completely different.

Its a shame Arbery wasn’t able to defend himself in the confrontation he didnt start.
If you were to diagram all the possibilities in this scenario, you'd have literally zero forks absent the deceased's original behavior.
Your view is like, when I walked out my door a couple of weeks ago with my gun...……..had their been an actual thief entering my car...…….that I was the one responsible for the confrontation.
Which is fricking absurd.
You don't want people with guns bothering you? A good start is to not steal.

Don’t agree. If the guy was burglarizing a house in that neighborhood they have a right to attempt to detain until police arrive. Is that a smart decision? Maybe not but this guy was a former police officer and has that experience.
Problem is, guy didn’t wanna be detained and came around end of truck and went straight to ole boy holding the rifle. Not a great move. He wasn’t shot until he tried to remove the weapon from the guy in the truck.

Their actions could not have occurred without his. Sorry. That's just reality. He started the chain of events.
Not really. They had a perception of their neighborhood that it was being robbed regularly that is antecedent to it. So what may or may not have been something escalated towards criminal behavior by Ahmaud going into the house under construction escalated to an armed confrontation. You’ll laugh at this because you have a bit of an inability to correct your thinking once you head down a path.

Deceased did.

Really? If you had your gun...…….but weren't pointing it...…...but the person you were engaged with were running TOWARDS you, you'd leave the gun at your side?
That's your story?

Here’s where you’re out over your skis again. They suspected him of stealing. What did he steal?
Follow up question, can a citizen detain someone for suspicion of theft?

Meanwhile, 3 days ago, my tendency was to say they go to jail......AND SHOULD...………..BUT...……...that I had my doubts the media was being truthful.
Turned out. I was correct.

Sounds like a slight variation on the Trayvon Martin case.
1.) Black male committing a crime or scoping out a place to commit a crime.
2.) White citizen confronts.
3.) Black male attacks / tries to take the gun away.
4.) Black male is shot.
5.) News media run with the "racist white guy shot a black for no reason whatsoever."

There was no burglary. So they just suspect him of burglary. And in that case, no, they do not have the right to detain.

I’m not stuck on any path. There are very specific ways that citizens arrest applies. And when it applies, there’s limits on the force allowed. The McMichaels still have some hurdles to clear to justify attempting to detain him and the force used in detaining him.

Self-defense during an arguably illegal detention? While being held at gunpoint illegally (arguably)?

Lmao no it wasn’t. They weren’t anywhere around when arbery trespassed. They had to drive to him to confront him. Mcmichaels literally told police he went to confront Arbery. You are doing some intense mental gymnastics. Your imagination doesnt hold up with what people involved said happened.

I just no longer give a frick...…...because old "innocent jogger" wasn't.
He caused the situation. All stupid shite that occurred after his stupid shite is on him.
If I'm doing 120 on a road with a 50mph speed limit......and someone driving in the right lane gets over just before I'm about to pass because he doesn't properly estimate my speed in his mirror...……...his stupidity is a result of MY stupidity.
Hence. My fault.

If I’m in a pickup truck trying to “talk” to a guy about my suspicion of his criminal behavior, I’m not going to have my gun pointed at him.

Yes. It was.
You can't diagram what occurred here without starting with deceased's actions.
Take his actions out, and literally nothing happens at all.
Sheesh.

If I’m walking into the crosswalk with a red light and you hit me doing 30 miles over the limit, fault can be found with both parties.
And you’ve been screaming about one-variable thinking so convincingly in the Covid threads only to abandon it here.
I’ll let you cool off on this one. Your blood is flowing away from your head.

Look
You guys have fun
They're going to walk
And, we'll have a 50 page thread about it with people whining.
But, they're going to walk. Come to terms with it now, or not.
Your call.
