Lawyers for Attorney General Liz Murrill asked a judge Monday to issue subpoenas to Orleans Parish District Attorney Jason Williams and special prosecutor Laurie White for records about how a state grand jury came to indict Murrill this month over alleged threats to New Orleans leaders.
The subpoena requests are part of Murrill’s attempt to have the criminal case against her thrown out before she must answer to 16 felony counts of public intimidation and malfeasance in office from a July 2 indictment.

The subpoenas to Williams and White each seek emails and other communications related to the case against Murrill, the grand jury and the investigation.
Among the records that Murrill’s attorneys want from Williams are correspondence between the DA or his staff and Moreno, City Council President JP Morrell, former Congressman Cedric Richmond, state Sen. Gary Carter or members of the news media.
From White, Murrill’s attorneys want any correspondence the special prosecutor has had with Williams, Roche, Moreno, or members of the news media. Murrill’s attorneys are seeking records dating to March 1.

Liz may have to wait for the state supreme court to actually rule on it (I think it's still stayed), but the finding on behalf of the state is pretty much a given. After that, the AG's office will be open to going after the players as long and deep as Liz wants.

I thought Landry assigned the state police to investigate. Is that not happening?

Two separate entities. AG can do what they want separate and apart from anything the state police may be "ordered" to do by the governor.
Stupid people in the city are decidedly in the finding out phase of having fricked around.
Stupid stupid people.

N.O. "leadership" sure picked the wrong hill to die on....... all over an office that they were the only parish in the state that had civil and criminal clerk of courts responsibilities divided.
they will lose a lot more then what they could have gained from getting someone appointed to the position after the state legs eliminated the position......
