That being said, when I read this quote, I saw it as him saying the shooter was MAGA

You don't believe this is dangerous? Now knowing that he also knew it was incorrect when he said it?

You think he was simply and innocently referring to the past tense and then also failed to clarify that it turns out the “MaGa gang” was right?

yea okay

Interesting take, Zwin...

The thing is- it was his company's decision to either stand by him or unload him. I'm sure their decision wasn't based 100% of this single incident.

Also, it wouldn't be surprising if his monologue was written to convey the kid as "one of them" but with enough ambiguity to leave room for excuses.

Lastly- Kimmel made a poor choice and is reportedly unrepentant- they may also affect the length or permanence of his indefinite suspension.

I agree, OP. Kimmel is an idiot and should have been kicked off the air long ago, but those painting his statement as a lie either struggle with reading comprehension or are just trying to stretch his words to justify ABC's actions.

IMO, ABC was perfectly reasonable in pulling his show based on what he was said. I don't think we need to stretch the statement anymore than that to justify what happened.

Then you are fine with someone using your political outrage for framing a marketing decision they don’t want to take the blame for. Congratulations, pawn.

I don’t give one single frick about Jimmy Kimmel and am not outraged about anything.

He’s a fricking liberal clown who operates in an echo chamber like the rest of them. If you want to watch him be my guest.

Everyone is stupid to think these giant companies care about any of this or any of us and will use any excuse to give cover to themselves for their bottom line.

That train has done left the station, son. Buckle in because the childish tit for tats is really going to start ramping up. Look no further than AG Pam Bondi, whom I used to like, going on TV talking about prosecuting an Office Depot employee over him/her not wanting to print flyers.

Kimmel should feel fortunate. What he said (or didn’t say) only cost him his job…..not his life.

Parse words all you want.Dance frantically to try to establish credible deniability. That’s on you and your conscience.

He lied to his audience by mischaracterizing who the killer was and why he murdered Charlie, minimized the tragedy in a truly vile manner , made it FAR more likely that Leftists would kill more Normals, effectively saying to his Leftist audience - don’t be upset by this- Trump wasn’t upset by this- the shooter was a Conservative-keep on hammering Trump and Republicans- let the violent chips fall where they may. His employer made precisely the right call, if they are choosing to distance themselves from this violence and future violence. If a man is holding a gas can over a fire, it is not a bad idea to take away his gas can.

For debate purposes -

Since when does misinformation get you kicked off the air?

Since when does offending people get you kicked off the air?

His words, especially given the timing when we all knew before he said it that the shooter was not maga, have meaning.

He is a comedian. Not a political commentator.

The point is the show should be no political other than some jokes about politicians here and there, but they should run both ways.

He knew the guy was a leftist and still said he was MAGA. And if you look at any post on FB about Charlie kirk you will see every lib on there repeating the same lines saying the killer was MAGA, etc.

He intentionally spread the misinformation to demonize conservatives again

An Aggie, T-Sipper and Tech fan walk into a bar.

The Aggies asks what woman would you want to be stuck on a deserted island with.

T-Sipper says Sophia Loren.
Tech fan says Taylor Swift.
Aggie says Virginia Pipeline.
The T-Sipper and Tech fan look confused. Who is Virginia Pipeline?
Aggie pulls out a paper with the headline, "Five men die laying Virginia Pipeline."

Of course they do. They mean the the "maga gang" was doing everything they could to disassociate with the shooter. That's what he said. That's what his statement means.
