Given it kills the person they would have otherwise become had it not been for the surgery, I'd agree with the notion that having the surgery is closer to murder than not having it.

I grew up with 4 brothers and was a bit of a tomboy for between 8-12yo. I had to in order to survive my brothers' brutal teasing. If I was growing up today, I might be mistakenly prescribed a sex change.
